I was expecting a Durable Marine Clock when I placed the Autonautic Marine Quartz Clock Order. I was quite surprised to see that the Autonautic Marine Clock, which is rather small, has a simple Household Clock mechanism in what appears to be a Brass looking Plastic Housing. I really expected more from Autonautic Marine.

This is a very finely crafted nautical quartz clock, about the size of a palm. It appears to be well-made with an elegant and shiny brass-plated exterior. I installed it in my RV, and despite its small size, it stands out and is very practical. According to the product description, it features a German-made movement and requires a battery to operate.

I was quite surprised by the small size and lightweight feel of the Autonautic Marine Quartz Clock when I first inspected it. It doesn't match the solid, premium quality of my Weems and Plath set or the antique clock I inherited from my grandfather. The clock's overall construction gives off a somewhat cheaper vibe, reminiscent more of a mass-produced electronic item rather than a nautical instrument.Aesthetically, it does look nice on the wall with its gold finishing case, making it an attractive piece for leisure craft, caravans, or motorhomes. The internal mechanism is indeed typical of standard battery-operated clocks, but it has kept time well so far.I initially bought this as a gift, but now I'm having second thoughts. If you're looking for something with a bit more heft and a feel of quality, this might not meet your expectations at the current price of around $100. However, if appearance is your primary concern, it does deliver in that aspect.Pros: Looks good on the wall, reasonable timekeeping.Cons: Feels lightweight and somewhat cheap, not up to the standards of more traditional marine clocks.I hope this review helps in making an informed decision.

Well made and nice materials. This is easy to install and will be easy to change the batteries in. Looks beautiful and a great addition to our motor home.

This wall clock has the look and feel of excellent quality. It would look great in a boat, RV, or even the living room. The clock is small for smaller spaces such as a boat. It's a bit heavier than expected due to being made of brass. The brass has a thin layer of real gold, which really makes it pop. The face is fine enough that it looks like porcelain, although I don't believe it is.The movement is quartz made in Germany. The second hand ticks, rather than a sweep motion. The clock requires one AA battery which is not included. This is a superior time piece, crafted to look and function beautifully. If you're looking for a distinctive touch for your space, this will work great.

I'll admit, like other reviewers the first glance was a bit disappointing. However, a deeper look revealed that the craftsmanship, materials, and accuracy - especially when implemented on an actual sea going vessel - are among the best in the world. Compare this concept to the difference between an X-acto knife and a surgical scalpel; or the air filter on your home furnace and an air scrubber on the space station. This is a clock that may be the difference between life and death. I'm not going to trust the clock I hung on my barn for that.

You don't see many products like this in the US anymore. It's completely made in Europe. It's made in Barcelona, Spain of brass which is "flash" gold plated, meaning that it's an extremely thin layer of gold (probably about 0.5 microns, much less than traditional gold plating), but as long as you don't handle the clock a lot, it should last for a long time. The finish and the clock movements are covered by a lifetime warranty, and because this company has been around for 45 years there's no danger of them vanishing. The quartz clock movement is made in Germany, something I haven't seen in any clock for a very long time. Not surprisingly, it keeps time perfectly and runs on a single AA battery. The second hand is a tick second hand, not a sweep second hand.Autonautic Instrumental is more known for other instruments for use on boats such as barometers and compasses, but this clock is made in the same style as their other instruments and will look at home on your boat and even will add a touch of class in a car or your house. It comes with a plastic mounting bracket so you can easily take the clock off to replace the battery or polish it.It's much lighter than I expected; while the case is made of brass it's much thinner than I was expecting. Also, I believe the face is made of plastic, but it's so clear and smooth it took me a while to figure that out. None of that takes away from the beauty of this instrument. With so many cheap, mass-produced clocks out there, it's nice to see what one made with exquisite craftsmanship still looks and works like. Unlike those, this will last you for a very long time.

Wow! What a disappointment. For the premium price of this clock I was antcipating something really nice. This clock arrived with the lense physically scratched. I've attached a photo. I thought this was gold plated over brass, but I'm really not sure of the materials. I'm thinking it's a plastic clock. I don't find the clock easy to read and the clock mechanism is just the typical you'd find in a home wall clock. Overall, I can't believe the price of this clock and the lack of quality.
