The battery kit arrived promptly and included the battery, required tools and a DVD with with instructions, in addition to the instructions being available on line. I used the tools and video instructions supplied to easily replace the battery in my Garmin Nuvi 1490. It's too early to comment on the battery performance, but if the performance is in line with the quality of the tools and instructions, it's a winner.

This replacement battery makes full use of an older GPS unit almost miraculously feasible. The GPS' manufacturer did not make it easy to make a battery replacement by users! The screws are so minute that once dropped from a work desk, they cannot be found again!! But the NewPower99 battery-replacement kit makes short work of replacement, with special care. The screwdriver supplied has a useful magnetic tip that allows the minute screws to be held properly for re-introduction into the existing screw holes. I am very pleased and satisfied with the NewPower99 battery, kit and video instructions.

Installation, set up and charge went perfectly. Now trying to use the new battery for a trip and Garmin keeps shutting down ststing low battery so I guess the battery doesn’t hold a charge for that long. Cannot return it as its been over a month since I installed bettery which charged after installing but now is not holding charge. Waste of money.

I purchase my Nuvi 1490 many years ago. I use it primarily once per year when we take a long vacation to Florida. I use my iphone for the shorter trips. I watched several youtube videos on how to open and replace the battery. I took my Nuvi apart first before I ordered the battery just to make sure I could get it open. The battery arrived on time. The original battery has a very sticky adhesive on the back to make sure it stays in place. The new battery does not. I was a little concerned about this but everything when back together and worked perfectly. That was in February 2019. I haven't used it since. My only suggestion would be for the manufacturer to have an adhesive tape to attach to the back of the battery to help keep it in place. I did notice after putting it back together I could hear the battery moving around a bit. That is the reason for my 4 stars instead of 5. Hopefully this won't effect its durability and working condition.

The ordering, delivery and arrival were all very good. The video did not warn about the need to be very careful lifting the screen so as not to disconnect the screen from the unit....this is a serious problem. The kit appears to be excellent.....but once the screen is unhooked it no longer matters how good the kit is unless you can re-connect the screen....this seems to be very difficult to achieve.....

This was way easier than I thought it would be. Since the other reviews have mentioned how great it works, here are just a few things that might help you dismantle the GPS and get it back together more easily.1. Be very careful and patient with the first step. I cracked the frame a little bit trying to get it off, but it fits so snugly back together you can't tell. Use the prying tool to try to find the places where the frame actually is snapped into the body and try to focus on unsnapping these points, rather than just randomly prying the thin frame. It could take a while to find these spots, but it will be worth it.2. Don't be afraid to press the tool in deeper to pry, instead of just wiggling the top part of the tool on the frame.3. Go really slow when you get to pulling the circuit board. You don't want to tear or rip the think power strip that connects the screen to the circuit board.4. On my unit, the battery wires were oriented differently, they were on the short end of the garmin battery but running along the long end of the replacement. It should work just as well, just go really slow and move the wires around to make sure they aren't pinched when you replace the new battery.5. On my Garmin, the Garmin battery was held to the body of the GPS with double sided tape. I was able to very carefully pull off the double sided tape and reuse it on the replacement.6. Save the tools, if you need to do it again you can just buy the battery! I guess others are saying that you can use the same tools to replace batteries in other kinds of items.It appears that my battery came fully charged. I am still going to charge it for 2 hours before use like the instructions said.

Garmin says that the battery is not replaceable...but it is. They just want you to buy a new GPS unit.I watched the replacement instructional video on utube and everything looked doable, so I purchased this battery replacement kit.It came with everything that was needed.Removing (prying off) the outer plastic bezel was a little nerve wracking but with some determination I finally accomplished that task.After removing the four screws, the inner bezel was pried off; again with some determination. Removing the circuit board was easy as wasreplacing the battery. One note: the battery was securely held in place by some super sticky double sided tape. I used some 3M double sided foam trim tape on the new battery; works fine.To put it all back together, just reverse your steps. I did experience some difficulty in replacing the outer bezel; it just snaps into place, but with determination, I was able to get it. Going slow and taking things easy it took me about 30 minutes from start to finish.

The battery, along with the rest of the kit, worked out fine. The instructional DVD didn't work on my player, but with the special small screwdriver and the other specially designed plastic tool I was able to remove the old battery and replace it with the new one in my Garmin 1490LMT with very little difficulty. Sure beats having to keep this GPS plugged in all the time for it to operate properly, as I was told I would have to do. Since this little battery change was done, I'm thinking about trying to find another used GPS, replacing the battery as I did on this one, and giving it to my girl since we're trying to stay on budget. It works as good as new now. Thank you for this product.
