It's well built and nice wood used. I am also glad to have it in .177 caliber. I am very glad I bought it. It's very loud, which I expected, but good to call out for new buyers.

I used this gun for the first time Memorial weekend. I loaded a shot ready for my target but target disappeared so I put the safety on… A couple hours later target reappeared and as I flipped the safety off to ready for my shot, it fired on its own shooting through my ceiling.Gun is NOT SAFE !!!I tried to ask to return gun, but Amazon said gun is not returnable … very upset to be stuck with an unsafe gun that I won’t ever use again .

This airgun would not hold air when I got it so amazon sent a second one. When I got that one it didnt hold air either. I tried calling beeman customer service and never got through to them. I left several voicemails with my contact info. Spend your money else where.

Wonderful Amazon service. This arrived a day earlier than originally scheduled. It appears to be a great shooter and I am impressed with the finger room for the 177 pellet at the chamber. Incredibly disappointed with the sights though. I did not want to buy a scope but the sights are soooooo far off that they are useless. I have them lowered all the way and moved to the right as far as they will go and am still off around 1" in both directions at 20 yards. Medium or High scope mounts are needed for a 32mm scope to clear the rear sight. Hopefully this is the only lemon. Buy one if you want to.

I initially bought the Benjamin Maximus because of its lighter weight. That did not work out. The Maximus required a lot of force to pull back the bolt. The bolt handle sheared off after a few shots (a not altogether rare problem, judging from online comments). The light weight was great, but the plastic stock felt flimsy and hollow. There was a very slight but nonetheless noticeable blowback on each shot.So the Beeman was my second choice, and should have been my first. The rifle feels solid and having the wood stock is great. It shoots smoothly and accurately. Closing the breech is admittedly not silky, but it's adequate and perhaps will improve with use. Overall it's a good PCP, and for under $200 it's definitely 5-star.

As a previous reviewer noted, my rifle also came with no air. It was a challenge to get it pumped up that first time manually. As I recall, I shot it empty several times and it finally 'took' and pumped up then and since. The gun 'feels' much better than my Maximus. It weighs several pounds more which is part of the reason. I always felt like the Maximus was too light for such a powerful air rifle - but probably an advantage in the field. I am partial to wood stocks too, even if the Beeman stock doesn't have a perfect finish. The Maximus looks good but I don't care for the feel of plastic on my cheek. This Beeman has a much better trigger than the Maximus and 'is' adjustable (lighter) after removing the stock. This rifle seems to be more accurate than the Maximus too using inexpensive Crosman Premier Hollowpoints. I presume this is the least expensive, easiest to shoot, and most accurate 17+ foot pound air rifle on the market. I love it. I have some very expensive air rifles that don't compare.

This is a beautiful rifle, but it doesn't work. The wood stock and craftsmanship seem to be top notch. When the rifle arrived, I noticed the pressure gauge showed 0 (PCP guns usually arrive with a charge around 1000psi), so I was worried that it may have a leak. I started to fill the gun and you can hear the air seeping out near the pressure gauge. For the price, it is much better value than my Maximus and even my Maurader pistols. But, my Benjamin products actually have a decent quality control and are sent without leaks. I did exchange for the same item, haven't received replacement yet. Will update review when replacement arrives.9/21/17 Update: Received the replacement today, gauge on this one was at zero as well, but filled with no trouble and did not leak. By the way, Amazon was great about sending the replacement. The new rifle has a much darker stock, but I like it a lot. I sighted in the open sights first, took an unusual amount of adjustment but go it perfect after 14 or so rounds. I then added a scope (Bushnell 3-9x 40mm). Scope sighted in quickly. If you look at some reviews online and some youtube videos, you'll see the accuracy varies with different pellets. I bought this so I could have an inexpensive and accurate PCP that shoots .177, and it does the job. My main .177 pellet is the crosman premier pointed 7.4 gr., I like the price and I can buy in "bulk". One review online shows the different groupings with different ammo. The Crosman Premier Hollow Point seemed to be the best value ammo with the tightest groups. I have some of those and will try them out, the pointed are shooting well for me, but not as well as my maximus using the same ammo. I have the Maximus in .177 and .22, I have both shooting dime groups at 15-25yds. I've only shot the beeman at my indoor trap, it is 9 yds. I was expecting tighter groups, but that may be the scope, and it may just need a good cleaning. I'm going to clean it, put a few hundred rounds through it and update with pictures of the groups at 9 yards. It feels better, much better, than my Maxumus', but not able to match the Maxumus' accuracy yet.On another note, I bought the redfield high rings for my scope, and they would not fit the rail on this run. I had to take a set of rings of a Maurader and use them on the Beeman, the Maurader rails are supposed ot be the same size as the Beeman rails, but the Beeman rails seem a hair wider.Update 9/22/17: Added my grouping picture from last night at 9 yards. Doesn't seem as accurate as Maximus .22 and .177 using Crosman Premier Field Hunting Pointed. As mentioned previously, the HP are supposed to be more accurate in this rifle. The opening to load the single shots in the breech is better on this gun than the Maximus. The opening is longer and it is a blast to shoot. The bolt does sometimes "pop" up when I fire, might need tighter o-rings on bolt. The gun is loud, possibly louder than the Maximus. The box says "up to 50 shots in .177" - I have not been able to get close to that at all. I shoot the gun from 2000PSI to 1000-1100PSI then refill. I am getting 24 good shots. The accuracy seems to get near perfect at 1800-1300, that's where every pellet was going through the initial pellet holes. The target picture was 12 rounds, so several went through the large opening.Update 10/22/17: filled it up today for the indoor range, power seemed to disappear and the guage has stopped working. I have 6 pcp airguns now, and the gauge on the Benjamin pump is accurate with all of them except the Beeman. It still ejects the pellet, but with little power and no sound. I’m used to my Mauraders being nearly silent, but it surprised me when this stopped making noise today. If I pull the bolt and don’t load a pelllet, it still seems to fire normally (a bit loud). I had contacted Beeman about the first Rifle (ended up exchanging through Amazon), and they seeme dreceptive and willing to help. So I will contact them tomorrow and see if they’ll take a look at it for me. Just seems like a lot of additional hassle with two of these now that have issues with reliability / defective.Update 12/21/2017: I was able to contact Beeman in October and they sent me a return label to send the gun back. After sending the gun back I didn't hear anything, so emailed the tech (Peter) several times asking for updates - never got any responses. I ended up sending 5 emails with a couple weeks between emails, no replies. Finally started calling, would have to leave my number for a "call back" and never got any calls back. Eventually called daily until I reached Peter, and he informed me that my gun was on the shipping deck on it's way back to me. That was on 12/4/17 and the gun has never arrived. Looks like I'm out $163.00 and a gun. I really really liked this gun and the stock, wish they would have repaired and sent it back. If the gun ends up at my door one day, I'll be sure to update the review again. The Beeman support was always pleasant, just unresponsive at times. I know some people are not Crosman / Benjamin fans, but the few issues I've had with their products were addressed quickly and professionally, and that counts for something in my book.
