The carburetor on the blower needed cleaned and a gasket kit. Unfortunately, the cost of the rebuild kit was almost the same as this entire carburetor. It started right up and only needed some slight adjustment to get it running good. Also included the filter, which was a plus!

My 8+ year old Stihl BG86C would start but die. When I saw a new carburetor could be bought for $18 I decided to try replacing the carb rather than troubleshooting to determine what was wrong. Replacing the carb was easy. The kit came with all the parts needed and more including a new spark plug, gaskets, fuel line, 2 gas filters, and 2 extra priming bulbs. I viewed a YouTube video to see how to do the project. Took about 1 hour start to finish including looking up and watching the video and thoroughly cleaning the blower as I took it apart. Started right up after the third pull. Runs and idles great and did not require any carburetor adjustments

Lots of great other parts to replace but the carburettor ran well for only few hours before it struggled to blow as certain speed despite few tweets up.

Worked as well as the one I removed. I was hoping the slow RPMs was due to the carb but I need to change the piston/rings. Adjusted te carb slightly from as delivered settings. My Sthil BG 86Z leaf blower is old. Had the internal needle bearing on the piston connecting rod fail under warranty but repair shop was a scam. Had to pay $40 for them to diagnose the terrible noise it made while running. Stopped by repair shop twice, they gave result without getting it to run. I got it running and it ‘confirmed’ the issue. They said I had a dirty air filter which was not true. So I either paid $40 and it would be taken off repairs or it could be used towards a new leaf blower. I took it home and tore it apart to fine the connecting rod needle bearing totally worn out. Piston walls were perfect and rings good. Replace bearing and used it for another 3 years. It slowly had been loosing power so hoped it was a clogging carb but likely the piston and rings are wearing out as it takes about 10 pulls to start. Carb purchased worked great but didn’t fix low top speed.

Perfect replacement for my Sthil BG86C blower. Required adjustment after installation, but afterwards ran perfectly. Choke “notches” aren’t as precise as the original and don’t hold as solidly, but they work. The air filter and the fuel filters seem to be of good quality, as are the primer bulbs, but the spark plug is nothing I’ve ever heard of and I wouldn’t use it. Very pleased with the kit.Update- Very hard to start. After several uses I also find that it has no mid-range performance. Idles great and runs at full throttle great, but almost nothing in between. May not be a big deal, since these blowers are usually used at one or the other positions, but if you want to “gently blow” something, forget it. As you squeeze the throttle it goes slower and stumbles. I rebuilt the original carburetor and bingo! Starts much better, and has mid-range performance as well. Runs as new. This carburetor will get you running again, but I’ll save it for a backup. Not as good as the OEM carburetor. Down from 5 stars to 3 but still a good value.
