It would be nice to have a locking version that prevents a potential thief from simply removing the thru-axle and making off with the bike. The rack to which I clamp the adapter has a lock, so the thief has to get creative to steal the adapter.

Easy to install and use - except that it didnt hold and my beautiful Trek Domane came off the roof on the Interstate. Before you say "Well, you didnt fasten the fork/QR properly" I'll tell you that a) its not my first rodeo, b) I LOVE my bikes and take great care whether they are a open fork or through mount, and c) I reefed on it after installation to make sure it was on there securely.So whats the issue? I suspect two things. First, upon closer inspection, the fork prongs arent parallel; they are slightly skewed in. This means that even when you close the fork mount against the adapter, the actual points of contact are two small areas of metal where the bent bit touches, as opposed to the entire flat face, if that makes sense. This creates a false sense of security because no matter how tight or how you lever the fork mount, it will never create a truly tight fit.Second, there is no stippling or texture on the smooth metal that would enhance gripThird, and the most obvious design improvement; there is no secondary "hook" on the end of the plate metal fork that would provide an additional level of security in the event of the thing slipping.The only positive is that the only thing injured was the paint on my car and the bike - and nobody crashed into it at 70mph and caused a massive pile up. . . . but my bike is destroyed. I would totally take accountability if i HADNT used it exactly as directed - but I did, and its going to cost me a new frame anyway.If you insist on buying this, PLEASE be careful and triple check, and take a test drive before your trip. I will be looking very carefully for something else for next time.

The openong needs to be closes as the métal is to hard and slips once you have a bike on the rack.

This is really well-made. Specs are precise: traveled over several long, international airline journeys where the handlers were notably hard on the bike case, but this held my bike in solid place without any wiggle at all.

I had almost given up trying to find a12mm thru axle adapter for my Thule bike rack. None of the usual sources were listing it, and even the Thule website said this was not available on-line. I saw this one and thought I'd try it.Initially disappointed that it does not match the color of my Thule bike rack, I found that this is even sturdier than my 15mm Thule brand: I had to open the mount on the rack to accommodate the thicker "legs" of this model. The thru axle, of course, is a perfect fit. This sits a little lower than the Thule, but poses no problems.Considering the price difference, this is a great value if you need a 12 x 100mm thru axle adapter for your roof top bike rack. rack.

I bought this so I could use my old Yakima car top carrier, which has quick disconnects, to carry my new bike which has through-axles. I removed the cartop mounts from the carrier and use it inside my SUV to transport our bikes on long trips. I had previously found a Yakima adapter for my wife's bike but couldn't find one this time so I bought the BikeHand adapter. The first thing you notice when trying to attach it to the quick disconnects is that the forks are not straight, they are curved, and they are not square to the quick disconnects. This makes it difficult to insert into the quick disconnects and results in less than secure attachment. On one trip, it wiggled loose from the disconnect. I would not trust it to hold a bike mounted on top of a car.

This is great! Allows me to keep using the Yakima and Saris racks that fit our older QR bikes with our newer through axle bikes. Just be sure to order the size that matches your needs.I find it easier to attach the adapter to the bike THEN mount on the rack. The rack interferes with the lever on my thru-axle.
