I was looking to give my Glasser carbon violin a bigger bluegrass (ballsey) sound vs. the semi dull dead sound it has with normal ‘Proper Classical’ strings. Well the E,A & D pop , but the G is a bit gravely . For the price I am surprised , but I guess I should not be as I had played Black Diamonds strings on my guitar over the years. I’m going to let the strings break in and see how the G does.

Buyer beware, these strings are teetotal CRAP!! And it's hard to understand because Black Diamond makes really great electric guitar strings, comparable to Ernie ball, and that's a huge compliment! But, back to these fiddle strings...what's wrong with them you ask? better to ask what's right with them...the G string is raspy and overpowering, so is the D string...the A and E strings have half of the projection of the G and D, a really noticeable difference in volume...to make matters worse, the A string isn't even wound... I guess that's why they're 7 bucks a set, while even a barely useable and/or acceptable set will usually run at least 20-25 bucks....these are subpar in every way!!

I am just starting to learn to play my "fiddle". I don't know how these strings compare to the more expensive ones. They are a vast improvement over the strings that came on my violin. While I can still make some strange noises with them,on those rare events when both my bowing and fingering are correct they sound quite nice.
