About this item

  • LIGHTEST PUMP! - At only 59 grams, the only lighter way of getting home after a flat tire is using your phone to call a cab

  • PRESTA-ONLY HEAD - Who is this Schrader anyway? Fewer and fewer folks are running Schrader valves, so we've made this pump with a push-on, Presta-only head for easy use
  • ALUMINUM CONSTRUCTION - A lightweight and tough material for extra durability and a timeless look

This pump is small enough to fit in a pants pocket if needed. It's hard to gauge what the air pressure is but it will inflate your inner tube enough to get you to a full-sized air pump with a pressure gauge. Perfect for a portable bicycle toolkit.

I purchased this pump in October of 2020, just this past week I unfortunately received a flat tire on my Mountain bike about 2 miles from my home. After I inserted Stan's tire sealant in the tire, I attempted to replenish the tire with air from this pump, the results were NO air! nothing put a slight trickle of air came out, and definitely not enough to pump my tire back up! Total waste of money! Don't buy! pure junk!

I purchased a previous version of this air pump several years ago and was hoping for improvements on this new one. I was pleasantly surprise that this newer version pumped more smoothly than the last one purchased years ago and this one had a better designed pump head that is more streamlined and doesn't protrude as far, which is important since I mount it on my frame near my pedals. I use this pump to size up my inner tubes when changing a flat while out on the road, and don't usually depend on it to fully inflate my tires. I carry a C02 inflator for that purpose, but I'm confident that this Blackburn Airstik will do the job if necessary. Also I really like that this pump is small and super light.

These pumps work great for road tires and in a pinch can even blow up a mountain tire! The major advantage is that it is short enough to fit into most seat packs. Only works on presto valves.

I would give it 4.5 if I could. This pump is light and mounts perfect on the bike, very discreet. Just tested it for my upcoming trip. I can't take co2 on the plane and wanted to leave my large stand pump. I ride 700x28 tires at 75/85 psi. I deflated each tire to about 30 psi. It took about 350 pumps for 75 psi and 450 pumps for 85 psi. And the last 10 psi were very very hard. I did end up sweating. And actually I hadn't realized but my right hand palm is cut.In the end, it did the job. The seal is perfect, you do have to hold it tight on the higher psi. I purchased this one because I didn't want a twist one that could untwist a presta valve. Also because it's very small and light. The pump seems high quality but there is no way you can use this to pump 100+ psi yet it's rated to 160. That is why I would take off a star. The reason I didn't was because you can't expect such a small light weight pump to do so. I am still going to ride with my co2 cartridges and use this as only a back up. And I might take my large stand pump and use this for flats.

This is a review of the Blackburn Airstik SL versus Topeak Micro Rocket AL. Same price, same size. I bought one of each (straight purchase, no received-for-evaluation hanky-panky) because I have a few bikes that need saddle bag size pumps. I also purchased the Birzman Mini-Apogee pump (not from Amazon). I'm testing performance with Presta type valves. For this test I'm pumping up a high pressure road tire. But I'll use these on road or MTB.Seal:Winner: Blackburn seals well with a push onto the valve and no leakage, either connecting or removing.2nd: Topeak seals while pumping, but loses air both pushing on and pulling offLast: Birzman - it's slide clamp mechanism is less than intuitive, and it still leaks air coming off. It is a compromise because it supports Schrader valve as well.Quality:Winner: tie Blackburn and BirzmanLast: Topeak - as mentioned by other reviewers the aluminum sleeve was loose on the piston end. I glued with rubber cement. You should not have to do this with a new product!Ease vs Volume: (there is no clear winner; this is a physics tradeoff)Higher volume, harder force required - BlackburnIn-between: BirzmanLower volume, less force required - TopeakSmall Size:Winner: BirzmanTie for 2nd Place: Blackburn and TopeakAdditional Comments:I had frame pumps back in the 80's which would seal fine on a Presta and pop off without leaking air from the tube. Why is this still hard to accomplish?

Presta valve only which is actually good since it makes it easier to use on the side of the road. Really small. I actually use it to get the inner tube slightly inflated before inserting it into the tire. I then finish the job with CO2 cartridges. But you would be able to use this pump to get to a ride-able pressure if you needed it. Fits in rear jersey pocket really easily and unobtrusively. I actually keep mine in a small leather pouch along with a multitool, some CO2 cartridges and a spare tube.I highly recommend this pump.
