I've recently pulled these out of the parts bin to use in some robotics projects w/ my daughter, following some tutorials in which accelerometers and gyros are used to provide feedback to a self-balancing robot. In our projects, these have been working well for the acceleration component. I've also used these for some fun 'spy gear' projects (e.g., hacking prank alarms that trigger when a door is moved in one direction, and re-arm when closed again). These are fun and affordable sensors compatible with a variety of Arduino and ESP32 dev boards w/ 3.3V supplies (though you'll probably want a level shifter to talk to these from a 5V-native board). We've primarily been using ESP32s w/ the Arduino framework.
