Great boba maker. It can also be used for other items but we used it for boba. Instructions were clear on how to use and make the boba. It came with everything we needed except the cups but we had those. Best way I can describe this is like the use of an instant pot / airfryer but for boba!!! If you love boba and want to make it home, get yourself one of these.

Review for “5L Boba Cooker,Automatic Pearl Tapioca Pot Machine,Commercial Bubble Tea Maker for Milk Tea”There are operating instructions included with the cooker, but no *cooking* instructions for the boba itself. My bag of boba pearls said to use a 10:1 ratio of water to boba when boiling them on the stovetop. Online tutorials suggest anywhere between 10:1 to 8:1 or even 6:1. One video I found online said the ratio should be 5:1, and because it gave way more thorough info than all the others, I went with the 5:1 ratio. Because of the high water to boba ratio, this large cooker will make a surprisingly small quantity of boba. I used 2500 ml of water (which came almost to the max fill line) to 500 ml of boba pearls and measured it all with the included measuring cup. Even with this smaller ratio of water, the pearls turned out well, and did not melt!On the cooker, select your desired item to cook. I chose the tapioca pearls as I do not know how to make any other item. The cooker will automatically progress to each step of the multi-step process as you go.Step 1. Add water in the quantity of 5x the amount of boba you wish to cook. The cooker boils your water. When the water reaches boiling, the cooker will make a tone so you know it’s time to add your boba.Step 2. Open cooker, and add your boba. You need to use regular boba and not the “quick cook” kind. Give a stir before closing the lid. Close lid and the cooker will automatically begin the boba cooking process.Step 3. After the next tone, open the lid and remove the pot of cooked boba water mixture to the sink. Pour it all in a colander to remove the cooking liquid, and rinse the under cool water for a minute to remove the residual boba gunk. The cold water stops the cooking process so the boba maintains the correct consistency. Optional: You can reserve some of the liquid for keeping the boba moist for the next 4 or so hours.Step 4. You can put the rinsed boba in a bowl or return to the pot and add your sweetener of choice (simple syrup, honey, or brown sugar syrup, etc.) The quantity you add is entirely up to you taste wise. Let the boba infuse with sweetness. If you close the lid of the maker while this occurs, the boba will “braise” in the sugar syrup for 30 minutes. They were slightly drier when I did this because I prefer a lower quantity of sweetened syrup, so I will add a little liquid to the pot next time. Alternately you can soak the boba in sweetener without involving the cooker at all. A bowl on the countertop will suffice as long as the time is longer than 15 min.If you are not using the boba all immediately, you can add reserved liquid or fresh water just enough to cover the boba. The boba will still be considered fresh for the next four hours, and a little liquid will keep the boba from drying out during that time.Overall this cooker did make the boba cooking process easier, but a cooking booklet would have been very helpful to explain how to make the boba and all of the other items this maker supposedly makes.

And what it is is pretty small. I just wanted it for home use, and it's overkill for that. Really convenient, and it's simple enough to use and it's nice being able to store them in this cooker for a few hours. But I don't think I'm ever going to use this to its capacity, which I find to be weird in the first place. If you're a bubble tea shop you'll probably want bigger, or if you're like me, smaller would be more reasonable. This seems more suited to shops that do bubble tea as a secondary or tertiary producy rather than the primary.
