About this item

  • The Achilles Wedges “medium” fits a medium and large Vectra walking boot and medium Full Shell walking boot
  • Distinctive design disperses body weight evenly across the foot, eliminating pressure points
  • Polypropylene wedge material provides rigid support that does not compress like other wedges made of foam or rubber
  • Comfort pad places the foot at ease and on a soft surface during use
  • Comes with a forefoot and ankle extension strap to fit various sizes of walking boots

Achilles wedge comfortably offloads the Achilles tendon during rehabilitation. Four interlocking wedges provide customizable height adjustments. Care instructions: hand wash with a mild detergent and air dry. Works with many Breg Walker Boots.

Was given these by my doctor, yeah...the cushion is worthless.

This wedge is a hard plastic, understandably it is to make the wedge very ridged to keep the foot in plantarflexion. The problem is that the padding flattens out at the heel and slides forward leaving the heel on the hard plastic which after a little while is almost excruciating.

Wedges are used in Breg walking boot while recovering from achilles repair surgery. Weight bearing on the wedges became functionally impossible because of the extremely poor-quality cushion on the top of the wedges. Within 24 hours of weight bearing, the cushion was worn down to nothing--meaning that I was putting all my weight on the hard plastic of the wedges. That led to terrible pain. When I realized what was going on, I purchased my own foam backing board as a replacement for the defunct cushion. It's shocking to have paid so much for a boot and wedges only to receive such a poor-quality product. I'm sure that most people reading this review will have little say over which boot/wedges they receive from their doctor. But if you do, I'd not go with Breg.

This wedge works and is as rigid as it claims, but the foam topper for "comfort" compresses relatively fast before I completed rehab. It leads to incredible discomfort. Unfortunately, Breg does not offer a replacement foam topper.

I have a Breg Vectra walker boot and this Breg achilles wedge fits it perfectly according to chart on Breg website.Unfortunately, "expedited" shipping took 4 days prior to shipping and arrived 6 days after ordering. To their credit, I complained to seller, and they refunded the expedited shipping cost. Still, I needed this quickly since I tore my Achilles and needed to stabilize my foot into plantarflexion (I am a physical therapist and am self-managing my Achilles rupture). Finally, the cushion that comes with the wedge completely compressed under my heel within one week of use. It is very uncomfortable now. Since an Achilles wedge forces a person to bear weight almost entirely through their heel, the heel portion should be padded with a material that won't completely compress so quickly.Ultimately this does the job of protecting my Achilles tendon while it heals, but with caveats for comfort and arrival time.Pros:*Fits Breg walker boots perfectly.*Responsive seller*4 piece adjustable wedge accommodates multiple uses and gradual weaning from plantarflexed position in 5 degree increments.Cons:*Poor comfort keeps you from wanting to walk in it and causes heel pain. This interferes with progressive weight bearing and weaning from crutches and is functionally relevant to overall loss of strength in the leg as well as recovery of normal gait pattern.*Expedited shipping took much longer than it should have considering this is for an injury. Again, seller did refund the expedited shipping fee.
