I've been meaning to revamp the bulb situation in my garden since I moved into my house 8 years ago. It took me a long time to figure out what I've got and where it is. Now I'm able to add to it. I'm using this to plant a bunch of tulip bulbs this year. The tool is well-made and very easy to use. It pulls a plug of dirt out that's the perfect size for most bulbs (and if your bulb is too big, just pull a couple plugs). It works really well for its assigned task.I'm very happy with it.

I needed something to quickly punch holes for sod plugs, and this did the trick. Only downside was it's only a ~2" diameter hole, so I would punch 4 holes next to each other. Everything worked well, the end was sharp enough to punch through soil or occasionally need body weight. The only issues I ever had was when I hit larger roots. It doesn't work as well in freshly wet clay soil because it clumps up, but with dryer soil it was perfect, and would shoot the plugs out of the top. The padded handles were nice as well. The red depth rings did kind of start to deform, but I don't think it great affected the depth too much. But something to watch for if they continue to get worse. Overall, this allowed me to punch the holes I needed for sod plugs. I also used it to remove some individual weeds, rather than try to pull them out by hand and that was convenient for just taking the whole base of the weed.

This is a great bulb planting tool that also works for weed pulling or any other kind of reason you might need to easily dig little holes in your yard.This bulb planter is sturdy and durable, made of with a coated stainless steel that's thick enough to give it a good strength but still thin enough to keep the tool easy to pick up and move around. It can easily dig down into the dirt, even dry or compacted dirt, thanks to the little foot steps on the side you can use to shove it into the dirt. It can make holes that are 2, 4, or 6 inches deep, each just around 2 inches across. It's also easy to assemble within less than 10 minutes of time, and it comes with the only tool you'll need to put it together. It's lightweight enough that you can also hang it up on the wall if you've got a couple spare nails!As far as negatives go, it's minor, but I have to mention the little metal discs that come with it which act as 'stops' so you can push the tool in precisely to 2 or 4 inches. It's a minor complaint but they aren't able to be put on super securely, because of the design, so the only thing holding them in place is friction, and they're liable to fall off if you aren't careful. I would have liked to see some kind of elastic or something to hold them in place.* I only review things that I personally use myself on a regular and continued basis.* I always give my full, honest, unbiased and unfiltered opinion on everything I review.* I will not hold back or avoid describing any issues I have with a product.* I write exactly what I think about things - the good, the bad, the ugly, and the questionable.* If I get multiple of something it's because I regularly use and need both of them.* And, I will update my review if something breaks, stops working as intended, or otherwise doesn't hold up as expected.

I was impressed with the robustness of this tool that is designed to take the drudgery out of digging holes for bulb planting. Assembly was quick, just put the two tubular pieces together with one screw using the provided Allen wrench and attach the two handles. Handles have a nice padding and a solid feel to them, allowing for a firm grasp.Even in out tough soil with a topping of mulch, this Bulb Planter Tool penetrated everything with ease, using a little swiveling motion when pressing down. The foot pedals allow you to put some real force behind the hole digging action. If you want to gauge the depth of your hole, you can attach one of the rings to the outside of the digging tube, which will indicate where to stop pushing. After pulling the planter tool out of the hole, I found the hold to be very clean and ready to drop a bulb in. You will likely need some extra soil to cover the hole as the soil plug remains in the bulb planter tool until multiple holes are dug, then soil will start popping out the side of the tube.I know this tool will be a back and time saver for certain. It disturbs less soil and takes much less effort than planting bulbs with a hand trowel. It arrived just in time for spring bulb planting. Job well done!

Worked great for my purposes - we have pretty hard soil, and I need to put fertilizer spikes around a particular tree. Last fall I pounded and pounded them in - my hands got blisters, it took me a few hours, I was tired, and a lot of the spikes broke apart. So I saw this tool and thought it would be helpful - and it was!! About 10 minutes around the tree (24 spike holes), then I dropped in the spikes, covered them with the dirt plugs - easy peasey, done! I haven't used it for bulbs, but it works great to pull up plugs of dirt, and if I only ever even use it for fertilizer spikes it will be WELL worth it!
