I buy Butler Creek for all my scopes and I am generally happy with them, especially with rear cap covers as they have a clip them keeps cap closed. This front lens cap that I ordered is near useless. It perfectly fits my scope, but the front cap can't close. Since the price of these caps is not worth wasting my time returning it, I will still use the cap with some electrical tape to hold the cap closed. It bugs me why Butler Creek can't manufacture the front caps in the same way they do rear ones. Adding a lock-clip to a front cap would not be a rocket science. I am sure any consumer would rather pay extra $2-4 and have a great lens cap than save few bucks and get an almost useless item.

Some reviews say this pops open; I have the opposite issue with it. It's harder to close than other Butler Creek covers I have. But it stays closed. Once I fiddled with its positioning on the scope it worked better. You can't just slide it on and assume it's on correctly. This is a 53 or 54 mm objective so it's a lot more area to cover than smaller scope caps. I'll say once it's closed, it stays closed. Opening it makes a little noise, like opening a vacuum, so you know it's tight. Hunters might think that's a bit too noisy but for my purposes it's fine.I also bought a smaller one, with the yellow release knob, for the eyepiece, and it works as all BC covers have worked, perfect.

I, like many others, put this on my scope and was frustrated how it would just pop open if you looked at it wrong. What is the point of a lens cap that isn't protecting the lens. I took a closer look to figure out how could this be so badly designed. I noticed the rubber ring didn't seem as large as the plastic cover and since they didn't mate, it popped open. Then I said ah ha. When I push the rubber ring further on to my scope, the rubber ring gets bigger. and it got bigger it properly fit the plastic cap. Not is solidly stays close and flips open with ease. Thought this might help some others.

I got this for my vortex viper 6-24 x 50 and it fits snug. Maybe a bit on the tight side, but very happy with considering most other were to loose.

Fits a wider range of scope diameters than the originals. I would never hunt without them. Not silent opening but quiet enough. A quality product that will last a lifetime.

Butler creek flip caps and the standard for a reason! I own many. Just recently put a #18 & #40 on my vortex viper 6x20x50. I had to purchase a #39 for my viper sunshade as it was not the same size as the scope. I will purchase these for every scope i own. Dont waste time looking at any others.

I was a bit worried that this cover wouldn't work the way it's supposed to when I first got it. The fit was pretty tight so I wasn't sure if that would keep the cap from sealing shut due to the stretching of the rubber; This didn't turn out to be the case though. I did have to do some sanding to keep it from touching the barrel(the scope sits pretty low on the rifle). Once I did that, the whole setup was squared away and it works well now. I will be purchasing more in the future.
