購入したい機器をパソコンに接続する為にこのケーブルが必要なので一緒に購入した。とりあえずWindows11のパソコンに接続して確認したら、不明なデバイスとして認識された。ケーブルに付いているタグに記載されたURLからドライバーをダウンロードしてインストールすると正常に認識され、トラブル無く動作している。使い始めてあまり時間がたってないので正確な耐久性の評価は出来ないが、作りは悪くなく、簡単に壊れそうにないので星4とした。

Arrived quickly and at a very reasonable price. Needed the drivers and the directions on getting them were not very clear. Asked for support and got an instant reply telling me I would get help within 24 hrs. Never heard back so that's a bit of a disappointment. Cable quality is very good though.

There exist some old-fashioned devices which may still be connected to via an RS232 serial port. Most PCs can be put into a mode, that allows them to use an outbound USB-to-serial Male adapter like this one. In my case, my Debian 11 / Linux system, running stock kernel 5.10, recognizes the little chip in the adapter, and creates a device file '/dev/ttyUSB0'. From here, I'm good to use either the minicom or cutecom terminal programs, which will display like an appropriate, old-fashioned terminal on any of my Linux machines, including on my laptop.Update (2):I have one friend who would be intrigued by the question, of whether it's still possible to connect to the Internet, using an RS232-connected dial-up modem. It's not worth investing any money into an old dial-up modem like that, but if the reader happens to have one (and not have high-speed Internet), then there is a fact to take note of.Unless one is using the GNOME applet to the Network Manager, in general, what one would use for dial-up Internet is a package called 'wvdial'. This package can be configured to connect using the device /dev/ttyUSB0, regardless of whether that device is directly a USB-connected or an RS232-connected modem. Only, the more modern way to use outdated infrastructure like that is, with a USB modem, and not with an RS232 modem.-Dirk

Die Adapterleitung funktioniert einwandfrei, man muss sich jedoch den aktuellen Treiber beim Hersteller laden - automatisch erkennt Windows da leider nichts.Was je nach Anwendung bedacht werden muss: Die Leitung entspricht dem RS232 Port auf dem Mainboard - heißt je nach Andwendung muss ein Null-Modem-Adapter oder Leitung dahinter!Ohne das hat z.B. beim Fluke-Messgerät auslesen nämlich auch nichts geklappt...

Got this cable to match up with Uniden BCT15X serial programming cable; worked perfectly, but both this cable's male RS232 and the Uniden's female RS232 cable were external ends, with mounting screws facing each other. The only way to keep the ends from coming apart would be to tape them together, or remove all 4 screws and use tiny zip ties or wire to keep them together. Unfortunately, Uniden doesn't include a modern programming cable with this model scanner, so it's this solution, or purchase the correct Uniden USB-1 cable or aftermarket clone.

Arrived just fine. The bag packaging is impressive. Looks professional, and good for storage. I will use this for my sewing machine, to connect to my computer. I'm glad to find this product, as my machine is older, and I needed a new cord with the USB connection.

This adapter is awesome. My application is a Windows 10 host laptop with a Windows XP guest OS running under VMware Workstation. The XP box was previously on real hardware that was dying, so I virtualized it. It was a point-of-sale system that had a serial modem attached, so I had to find a solution since the laptop has no serial ports. This dude was that solution. I installed the drivers (included with the adapter) on the XP guest, which was successful. I then connected the modem to the laptop via this adapter - the guest recognized it without issue. I ran a test credit card batch with the point-of-sale system, and the modem processed the batch successfully. Great price and (thus far) a great product.
