This doesn’t fit the 24-70 2.8L as it’s supposed to. The hood will only seat on one side and it’s impossible to get it to properly line up with the rails on the lens. I do have the version I of the lens that it is supposed to work with.

Great fit and usability- I definitely recommend if you are getting for a telephoto distance prime lens. If you are using anything that is a wider angle the hood will block the edges of your view.

Fits my gen-1 Canon 24-70mm L lens perfectly. I didn't have the overly tight fitment issues other reviews noted. This fit my lens PERFECTLY (actually better than the OEM one) . Snug enough to be secure, but easy to attach.**note to matte-box users** If you use your Canon lens in a cine/video setup, this is a great option to use as an "adapter" between your 24-70mm lens and a 105mm matte box (on the mark1/gen1 24-70 lens). It allows your lens to fit against the matte box without the telescoping movement of the lens being an issue (if you have this lens you'll know what I'm talking about). I milled about an inch off the end of the lens hood to eliminate the four indentions, but if you're handy with a dremel or belt sander, you could achieve a similar result.

The main difference between this and Canon’s version is that this one does not have a velvet like lining in the inside. I wish it did but for the value, it’s great

My past experience with third party lens hoods have not been good. Either they were loose fitting, or their finish easily scratched or felt flimsy. I recently gave this lens hood a try just for the hell of it. I was pleasantly surprised by the fit and finish of this hood. This is my second 24-70 and I can tell you that this lens hood fits almost as good (if not better) than the original Canon one that I lost. Fitting it on the lens was very tight but it'll give you so much confidence that when it's in: it's really in and won't come off easily. I like the matte finish on this lens hood better than the original as well. It's a little more resistant to small scratches. I've banged up this hood against things and left some scuffs but not too bad looking. So far it has endured some hot 110+ degree days here in Vegas with no changes to its shape or form. The lack of that felt material inside isn't a deal breaker. Overall, for less than $10 I cannot find any other reason to buy an original EW-83F. Good luck, I hope you get the same mileage as me.

This shade fits my Canon 24-70 2.8 L lens perfectly. After several months of moderately heavy use it still fits and locks in place like new. It doesn't have the flocking on the interior the Canon OE shade has but it has a nice matt surface that subdues reflected light quite well. This is one of the best after market lens shades I have ever used and I have used a lot. The only complaint I have is it came from China and took more than a week to arrive. Over all I highly recommend this shade. Near factory original quality and function at a very reasonable price. Great value!
