Works fine with the Canon 200-800 RF. A little slow at 1600mm F18, but perfectly fine in bright sunlight shooting 1/1000th. Sharpness looks good on both the R7 and R5MarkII. Stabilization works but at 1600mm it still has a bit of movement even with stabilization on.A little bitter pill to swallow concerning the price, but it's really well made. With the current cost of lens, the price is in line. I do miss the EF 1.4 and 2x prices though. The paint doesn't seem to match the same tone as the 200-800's paint scheme.

I just opened the package and it was clearly opened and repacked. The original packaging was missing and the lens extender was sitting at the bottom of the product box (well packaged in bubble wrap). I didn't order a refurbished model and have not tried the extender yet, but I am kind of leery not knowing: who, what, where, when or why it was previously opened. So, rather disappointed.

I use this for filming wildlife with my Canon 100 - 500 mm RF lens. It turns that lens into a 400 - 1000 mm which is great for shooting distant birds and other wildlife. However, the tracking becomes more difficult since it dumbs down the f-stop requiring more light and contrast to function well. I shoot at dawn and early morning so that can be a problem. And forget filming birds in flight...the tracking (using Canon EOS R6, Mark ii) with similarly coloured subjects to the sky is pretty much impossible to film. And the clarity of the subjects, is a bit softer...and forget insects on flowers...you have to be farther away to film what that lens can film sharply without the extender. But having said that, knowing the limitations will reduce your frustration and leave you in awe of having that greater "reach" when using the extender.

Canon quality and reliability. Works well with an RF 100-500 lens. Excellent quality wildlife photos, while still getting all of the auto-focus and related functionality of the R5.

Does an awesome job, but a bit on the expensive side.Compared to other brands, this one cost more and there isn't a lot of science behind it. But it is good quality and does what it does, making a 400mm do 800mm.Just know a few things! It'll be half the f-stop, twice the shake, the image stabilization will not be as good, and you are going to think about ISO more. That said, I've had a lot of fun being able to reach twice as far. I've done the solar eclipse, moon, sunsets, birds, and other animals.

Was on the fence about 2 times extender - very happy using on my RF 7. A lot less expensive thanBuying a new lense. I can double all my lenses length- like the option.

Bought this to expand the 800mm Canon lens i bought to be able to take closer pictures of the sun and moon. Very light chromatic aberration. Stabilization has a hard time handling the zoomed focal length. Overall though, a great tool to use as long as you have compatible lenses!

This 2X teleconverter- in my mind- should've turned my 100-500 into a 200-1000. But it doesn't. It made my 100-500, essentially, a 600-1000. That's great, but if you wanted to use a focal length less than 600- and that can happen often- you need to remove this teleconverter and put your 100-500 back on. Oops! There went that shot. I returned it. But it is high quality and may be perfect for another's use.

The RF system has a lot of advantages and some disadvantages. The big one discussed by numerous people here is that teleconverters have limited use on the various lenses - really only being usable for longer lenses. Like others, I would love to be able to use this on my 70-200 f/2.8.But I came into this knowing that that was an issue, so I'm not going to base my review on that. I mainly got this to pair with my RF 100-500 and it works great. As previously stated, you have to extend it out to about 300mm for it to work, but I am okay with that because if I was going to use shorter focal lengths, I wouldn't lose light by having the teleconverter on it. I would just use the native range of the lens. The main drive to get this was to photograph the sun in preparation for the 2024 solar eclipse. When paired with my R5, this is great combination. It will be fantastic for the eclipse. But, I also am a wildlife photographer and am looking forward to using it for that - particularly during the spring migration. In all, I think that this was a good purchase. If the mark 2 comes out and will be compatible for more lenses and/or a wider focal range of current lenses, I may upgrade, but for now, I'm pretty happy.
