Under a direct torch flame (>2500˚F), the fibers of this mat char and burn away, but there is no lingering flame, combustion, or smoke. Flame resistance is as advertised.Thickness is more generous than the listing suggests, and comparable to the other fireproof felt mats I've tried. It's nice that these are three feet by one foot, instead of the more usual one foot square.I'm completely confident using these as protection under operations that require high heat or entail the risk of high heat (i.e. lithium battery fast charging). Highly recommended.
