its been on for a year and went on and work well. however i now need an inner tie rod end and the one the rack takes is a m16x1.5mm thread and the original gm and all aftermarkets are a m18 thread. i do not know where they got the small ones or why they used them. now i have a $360 rack thats a year old that i cannot find an inner tie rod end for.I finally got in touch with cardone and they say they cannot see individual parts for this assembly. they have to be buying the tie rods from someone, why would they not use the factory 18mm size??? what they are selling is a non serviceable part. I will not buy again

Edit : been over a year now & it’s still going strong 💪Installed in my 2005 Silverado 1500 5.3L LS 2WD a couple months ago and so far it works well, not sure about longevity yet but it seems to be a good unit for saving money on. Installation is pretty involved as you have to deal with power steering fluid on top of everything else but it wasn’t too terrible, just make sure you’re used to working on vehicles before attempting.

Its not leaking, but I didn't give it a 5 because no jam nuts for the tie rod ends were supplied, and I did not find the tiny instruction pamphlet until after the job was done. They were basically saying the same thing as Youtubers, which was the fluid will bubble up and the power steering will make noise until all of the air makea its way out of the system. I shutoff the engine and carefully topped off at the cold line on the dip stick a few times until it quieted down. All of this while also turning the steering wheel back and forth. By the way I was able to re-use the tie tod jam nuts from the old rack. I also put a new power steering pump and hoses on. I drove over 100 miles and still no leaks. I will return here to change my rating if it leaks. Recently had alignment done at a private owned tire shop too. 80 dollar bills for alignment.

I was sick and tired of remanufactured rack & pinion units from NAPA that leaked or had so much slop (backlash) in the gear that you couldn't keep the vehicle on the road. Yes...they had a lifetime warranty, so they kept giving them to me for free, but it was still a huge hassle to swap them out all the time.I had no experience with Cardone auto parts...so I was more than a little apprehensive, but I was tired of the same predictable outcomes. I bought this Cardone and then waited for 6 months before writing this review. So far, it is perfect. No leaks, no loose steering. I am extremely pleased. I would not hesitate to recommend this brand to friends and family.

Easy install and works great on my 2000 GMC Sierra 1500. Steering is tight feels like a new truck! I did have to get an alignment after install but that is expected.
