Came with a little flat blade screwdriver. All the screws are philips...The board has a little active circuitry. There is a blue LED that just barely shines through one of the gaps when the cover is on. I think the chip on here is just a 3.3V voltage regulator, 6-pin, marked 'TS3dN3'.The switch is actually switching the data lines (2 differential pairs). So if you put two devices they will both be powered, but only one connected to the SATA port at a time.I was able to put an M.2 SATA SSD, and a MSATA SSD in. The selected drive was recognized. I disabled the first device in Linux (echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/block/sda/device/delete). Then flipped the switch, and the second drive was recognized. This is probably bad general practice, but it does work in a pinch if your controller supports hotswap.Comes with the plastic cover that attaches to the PCB with tiny screws. It supports side mounting or bottom mounting just like a normal 2.5" drive. There's no access to the switch once the cover is on. I cut a tiny slot in the top so I can flip it with a small tool.

Well, there isn't a whole lot to say about this M.2 SATA/mSATA to SATA3 (6 Gbps) adapter except it seems reasonably well-made and it works just fine without issues; however, it does NOT support NVMe/AHCI SSDs so just keep that in mind. Although AHCI SSD is rare nowadays, NVMe isn't and this doesn't support M.2 NVMe SSDs.The overall build quality of the adapter seems decent although the PCB is thinner (pic 12/13) than expected and it's certainly thinner than the average PCB you'd normally see; motherboard, video card, or any other add-on cards etc. I dunno if that's intentional to cut the cost down or if there are other technical reasons (e.g. height restriction). In any event, be gentle or you might break it inadvertently. It supports mSATA and M.2 SATA SSDs only; no M.2 NVMe (or AHCI) SSDs. In addition, only B and B/M keys are supported; M key is NOT supported. All common M.2 lengths are supported as well; 2230 to 2280 (22110 isn't supported). Installation is straightforward and no different than ordinary M.2 or SATA SSDs; however, you will need to flip the switch accordingly to either NGFF or mSATA location (pic 11) to match your setup since it does NOT support 2 SSDs to run simultaneously (and I thought it could initially when ordering it, my mistake). Additional screws/standoff etc and a mini slotted screw driver is also provided should you have the need for 'em.So how does it perform? Well, I have an older 256 GB M.2 SATA from several years that I use mainly as portable drive and I was able to get around 450-470 MB/s for both read and write, which wasn't too bad. However, I'm a little concerned about overheating issue since it's entirely made of plastic and it doesn't appear to be made with heat dissipation in mind.≡ ValueAll things considered, this is a decent M.2 SATA/mSATA to SATA3 (6 Gbps) adapter that's reasonably well-built and for the most part works just fine without issues. It's a great way to make use of M.2 SATA SSDs with a SATA3 interface. It's reasonably priced at $14 for what it provides and its overall build quality, features, usability, and performance. Your mileage might vary.

Super happy with this drive converter -- didn't even know they existed until I found this one. Easy to use, and works great -- gives me a whole new life for the extra SSD that I had. Very happy with this -- highly recommended if you're like me with an extra drive lying around.

I picked this up to use with my retro computer projects, it’s nice to have both an older mSATA slot as well as a newer M.2 SATA slot. This adapter doesn’t support NVME, but would be limited by the SATA interface on the drive itself anyway. It has a fairly sturdy plastic case, a small inexpensive screwdriver of the wrong type, but I’d use my own anyway. Overall I’m very happy with this drive
