A family owned company with a legacy...

The story began in 1941, when the CHEMEX Coffeemaker was invented by Dr. Peter Schlumbohm PhD to brew the PERFECT cup of coffee. Since that time, the CHEMEX has spanned generations and the globe as an icon of American design. History and craft are embedded in our makeup. At the CHEMEX factory located in Massachusetts, we still inspect, polish and hand-tie each coffeemaker and cut every filter - just as we always have. Led by a brother and sister who grew up on the factory floor, CHEMEX Corporation is made up of a team of people who are passionate about bringing superior brewing equipment to the global community.

Pure Design. Pure Flavor...

It has been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But imitation can truly be no substitute for the original CHEMEX coffeemaker brewing system. Few products can match the flawless blending of design and function of the CHEMEX. Its visual elegance has earned it a place in the permanent collections in many of the most prestigious museums worldwide. Its functionally has been awarded by the scientific and coffee communities. CHEMEX coffeemakers are made from the same high quality glass used for lab ware. It is beautifully clear and imparts no flavors or chemicals into your brewed coffee. Each coffeemaker is inspected, polished and hand tied by one of our team, before getting boxed up for shipping. CHEMEX Bonded filters are based on laboratory paper and designed to remove bad fats, bitterness, acidity and sediments that all other types of filters leave behind. Each filter is cut in house, on a machine that is operated by one of our team. Our filter paper is manufactured in the USA from North American materials only, adhering to responsible and sustainable practices.

Easy to use + strong. I tried a regular filter in my coffee pot and it disintegrated. The coffee is delicious. I had to reduce my # of scoops because it is very potent. Glad I bought it.

The coffee filters for a Chemex pour over coffeemaker are simple and strong. I do two pour overs every morning and the filters never break! I prefer a paper filter vs. a metal filter as it filters all of the fine particles. It makes the coffee taste better as well. I have a very sensitive stomach. When I use a metal filter, the coffee is too strong and hurts my stomach. I love the pour over method of coffee vs drip brew coffee. I like the act of being intentional when making my morning coffee. It is time for me to purchase more filters.

Truly the highest-quality coffee filter I've encountered for my Chemex. These square filters are perfectly designed for pour-over, and once you get the hang of using them, the process becomes routine and easy. This brand and model has made a noticeable difference in the flavor of my pour-over coffee.I don't like having moisture in my trash bin, so I let them dry (by sitting in a mug) for about an hour before tossing them.

I have been using this product for 5 years and love it. Just open, place the double fold on the spout side of your Chemex, and make a great cup of coffee

When using a quality product like a ChemEx to make coffee, you might as well get the best filters too. These filters don't cause a bad taste, they fit the ChemEx perfectly, and they NEVER break. I tried to skimp on my pourover experience and buy the cheap coffee filters in the supermarket. They have a bad taste and they frequently break. These filters are high quality and effective, and well worth the investment.

We happened upon a Eight Cup Classic Series Coffeemaker at our local Goodwill for six dollars and had no idea what it was. Brought it home and searched the web to find out. After watching a few videos on the web I ordered the Chemex Bonded Filter Natural Squares and a replacement Wood Collar as the one we had was broken and a piece missing. Upon receiving them we immediately brewed our first pot with pre-grown coffee. It took a lot of work and time to get the coffee through this filter but the reward in flavor was amazing. Next day we ground our own beans slightly larger and the results were much more satisfying due to the time it took to make and the taste was still amazing. We will be using the Chemex Bonded Filter Natural Squares and purchasing them again!

Nice to find a product that performs as advertised! No surprise. Chemex filters, introduced in 1941, are now probably state of the art. Filter is "natural" -- meaning it's color is light tan rather than white (the latter obtained by chemical bleaching). Filter comes as a square which easily re-shapes into a cone when inserted/pushed into the neck of the pour-over carafe. Simply be sure that when the cone is formed, three layers (or folds) of the filter lightly cover the dispensing channel of the carafe. The three layers provide a bit of filter stiffness so that air can escape unimpeded via the dispensing channel as it is displaced by brewed coffee. "Seat" the filter in place by quickly running warm water around its circumference from the bottom of the cone to about half-way up. Let the small amount of water now caught in the filter drain into the carafe, then discard it via the dispensing channel/ pouring lip. The whole process takes just a minute or two. The Chemex filter produces a bright, clean cup of coffee. No oils or coffee grains. Also no diterpenes -- enzymes in coffee oils such as cafestol and kahweol that inhibit the body's ability to shed LDL cholesterol!

My chemex arrived exactly as advertised, and it seems to perform exactly as online reviewers have said. However, I did not anticipate how differently coffee brewed in it would taste compared to how I have brewed it in the past (usually a french press). Some would say it tastes much cleaner, others would say it tastes stripped down. I would say that if french press coffee wears muddy leather boots, chemex coffee wears silk slippers. I know which one I'd want to build my house, and which one I'd rather have kick me in the face. A huge plus is the total absence of any kind of silt or sediment or grit, so the coffee is consistent down to the last drop, and you aren't gagged by a sandy quagmire of unremoved coffee grounds when you get down to the last mouthful. However, the oils are also stripped out, so the coffee's mouth feel is very different, and not necessarily in a good way. I will update this review after I have used it more regularly to reflect how I end up liking coffee brewed like this. All things considered, this coffee maker is beautiful, and it performs exactly as intended. Whether or not the coffee it produces is what you want depends on how you like your coffee, but I can say I've never had coffee like this, and it is certainly worth trying if you have the spare cash to spend.
