This product will work and seems well designed but a couple of things: it is a larger diameter than standard VW cables threads so the wing nut used for VW cables will not fit. Instead it came with two nuts and a washer. However you use these to connect to the clutch arm you will be missing the necessary rounded surface that should be against the clutch arm eye. Since the clutch arm moves in a radius, not a straight line, the rounded backing on a typical VW thumb nut is intended to roll in the clutch arm eye as it moves so that it wears evenly and does not cause stress to the clutch arm eye or the cable keeper. I can make this work but I wouldn't use it as intended on a air-cooled VW. Another thing, there is no jamb nut to hold the keep the large one from loosening under the tension of the bend in the cable. I would add another nut for this purpose.
