Coleman Butane/Propane Stove

When you need a compact stove to take on the trail, pack the Coleman Butane/Propane Stove. It’s designed to fit a 6-in. pan on top of the serrated supports and can boil 1 liter of water in just over 3 minutes. The fully-adjustable heat goes from simmer to full boil with up to 10,000 BTUs of power. You’ll see fewer flare-ups with a generated fuel system, while the PerfectFlow pressure control technology produces a steady fuel stream and consistent burner performance in all kinds of weather. When you’re ready to break camp, the burner easily separates from the fuel cartridge for compact packing. Without fuel attached, the entire stove is only 6.7 ounces, so it won’t weigh you down when you want to travel light.

I have been using one of these for decades. I know they are bulky to pack but if you want to cook and not just boil water, I think they are great. The flame control is better than others I have tried. Seems more are concerned with speed for the dehydrated meals. Which if that is the market then it's a good thing. If you want to cook and not burn your food, I recommend trying one. You do want to use a windscreen it really makes a big difference. Hope this helps.

I got this as a way to have a condensed flame for cooking instead of using a portable grill. This fits nicely in my bag with the rest of my camping gear. Just went camping and it worked perfect. The flame was hard to see but it gave plenty of heat for cooking my food.

This is the simplest, most reliable and easy to manage stove I've ever owned. It's not the lightest. There's no built-in ignition. There's really nothing to go wrong. The adjustment knob is extremely good. On cheaper stoves, the flame can go from "butane lighter" to "inferno of death" with just a fraction of a turn. The adjustment on this stove is very smooth consistent. I've made coffee countless times with this model. I've made hot chocolate for the kids. I've prepared freeze dried food. I'm totally sold on it and I don't really care if there are lighter stoves available. So, why is this my third? I gave one to my son for hurricane season. I have one in my backpack ready to go to the woods. And I bought the last one as a backup because I'm deathly afraid that it may be discontinued at some point. It'll stay in the box until it's needed.

Okay - so I used this as a sacrificial unit to retrofit new cans onto and old CampingGaz stove. That worked great. But before doing that retrofit, I tested this stove intact. It lit easily and quickly with the pezio; it burned strongly and solidly, and it was adjustable down to a light simmer. The windscreen, pot platform was fine, segmenting the burner so that the wind would only blow out a portion of flame at a time. And the pot holder has slightly serrated edge to presumably grip the pot.I'd have been happy to use this just as it was.For that I would recommend. As I loved some of the features of my CampingGaz stove (smaller burner, built-in round windscreen and a more stable platform to hold the pot) I did the retrofit. The new canisters (every manufacturers is using these) screw very easily into the new-style receivers. They unscrew easily and seal up tight to help break things down if needed for carrying.Coleman bought CampingGaz and I think may be phasing much of those older designs. I noticed the guts of this was nearly identical to my rather old stove with a couple differences. The burner is larger. The manifold to burner connection (which used to be screwed together) is now clipped in with a retainer. Not sure why, but perhaps this lets them use the part for more products.Anyway, if you can get this cheap it is worth it to have.Probably could serve as your primary camping or patio burner.Could be a back up or bug out option.Would perform fine for post-apocalyptic needs, I'd imagine.

I had used the white gas Peak 1 (#400) for 25 years starting 1980. Worked great, and still does. Over 300 camp dinners that, plus teas/coffees. In my middle age, more fussy about pack weight, and more disposal income values convenience over cost for us weekend warriors, butane canister gas cost at least 3x that of white gas. I have tried a couple butane stoves starting in 2005. Mostly all good. I like the simplicity and moderate cost of this the best. And seems more suited to heavier and bigger pot/pans than some, with stout arms and wide burner, and great and smooth low flame simmer. Quieter than many. Some smaller and lighter, but you are just shaving grams and millimeters, Uses the EN 417 screw on valve which has become the defacto standard for camping stoves over the last decade, Primus, Jetboil, CSI, MSR, Snowpeak, etc. so finding gas canisters not an issue. It can well benefit from a cheap, foldable tank stand, as do most. I would still recommend an old fashioned pump up white gas stove for cabin or weeks long use, but they are a little bigger and heavier for hiking.

Me gusta lo práctica y compacta que es, además que la calidad es muy buena, lo único malo es que los tanques de repuesto son difíciles de conseguir en México

Being an old Peak 1 fan since I bought my Peak 1 400 stove in the early 80s and the metal case for it that heats water in the bottom part and cooks your freeze-dried food in the lid. I'm still using that 39-year-old 400. But, I learned, years ago, to always carry TWO stoves. (Else you might have to cook over a fire and that really soils your pots with black sooth .) Since I've had to cannibalize one 400 to keep the other going, and Coleman sent back my FyreStorm TI duel fuel (Propane or white gas) saying they haven't the parts to repair it, I decided to buy this particular Coleman Peak 1 propane/butane stove as a backup this summer. It arrived today. Love it. Screwed a Lindal EN 417 to a 1lb propane cylinder adapter and then screwed in a Flame King "refillable" green 1lb propane cylinder. Turned the valve on while holding a lit match. Poof. It fired up just fine and ran good on just propane. The elevation here in Montana is 4,600 feet and it was about 65 degrees today. The Coleman Peak 1 Propane/Butane stove boiled the water in the bottom part of my Peak 1 metal case in 4 minutes (About seven cups or 1.75 quarts of water) to a soft rolling boil. Then I connected the Peak 1 stove to an MSR IsoPro Premium blend of IsoButane/Propane canister and heated up another 1.75 quarts of water. The IsoButane/Propane mixture took 4 minutes to bring the water to a rolling boil.I see pancakes and eggs in the morning. ;)

I really like the design of the stand. It's easy to attach it to a canister. The stands can accommodate a smallist pot but take into consideration that the diameter of the burner is larger than some stoves. It did struggle in windy weather so a windscreen would be essential. Not as strong a flame as other similarly priced stoves.

Very good Product. It has the fastest boiling time . I think better than a Pocket Rocket. Very sturdily built and i think it can last a life time if properly maintained. Very compact in size but the problem is with the Pot support . A round bottom pan will not sit properly a relatively flat bottom pan will do better . Any way to me a Boom Proof Product. Love It.

I am impressed with this stove for its size and low price. I use it for camping but would also make for a great item for emergency use at home or on the road. Its nice to stop in the middle of nowhere and make a cup of coffee or tea, or to heat up some food. Its light and does not take much space and the fuel canisters are handy. smaller pots pans are recommended for stability!I use this stove to boil water and heat soup using a JetBoil 1.5 liter pan with the flux ring. It boiled water very quickly. It works well with the flux ring pan (older model) by sliding the stove arms up into the gaps of the flux ring. You want to wiggle it on so you have a good tight friction fit that results in a very stable set up. I can pick up the the stove and pan together by holding the canister and pouring the water into what ever vessel I need it in with ease!! Not sure if this is recommended practice but it seemed to work, I had some fear the pan would drop off and spill boiling water everywhere but so far so good.
