I originally bought these when using a brush-king to clear trail at the barn (riding trails) as you would have to be insane to use one without these. But since I have also started wearing them under my chainsaw chaps mostly because I am often chainsawing a downed tree on a hill and have had numerous big trunks roll over onto my legs. I do have steel toed boots on, but these probably protect me from getting a sib-fib fracture from the rolling log. They are comfortable to wear, extremely light and I like the top-of-foot protection that is flexible.
