These are fabulous!!! You get 12 different shapes. It takes some strength to push the play doh through the ones with smaller openings, but in most of them it glides right through. The play doh cleans off easier than any other toys I have used in this category. The kids love them!

We have had these for about six months now and they are the best! They work great with fresh, soft dough... if your dough is stiff, crumbly, or dried out, most kids (and maybe adults) will have trouble. I was expecting to have trouble getting all the dough out of the tubes but they really are a breeze to clean up. The quality is much better than expected and exceptional for the price! No cracks or breakage even with younger kids being rough.

We had the noodle maker from Play-Doh and it broke within weeks. I was worried that these might be a little less exciting but my 2 & 4 year old love them. They are sturdy and there is a nice variety of shapes. Both girls can use them if we have newer play doh that is softer - once the play-doh gets a little old and stiff it's harder for them.

My niece loves pushing clay through extruders. However, these just didn't work well with all types of clay. We had some rose art clay, fresh from a recent accessory purchase that even a Strong Man competitor would have a tough time getting through some of the extruders. The issue is, some of the extruders have holes so small that it makes it hard to push clay through them. The ones with the larger openings are MUCH better, but my niece (and I would imagine any small child) would just not be able to push the clay through unless it is the super soft Play Doh Plus, and even then who knows. Forget about using clay that your kid left out for a little while and hardened up a tad. It just won't make it through the smaller holed extruders that come in this set without the assistance of an adult.

So far so good for these. We went through 2 of the Play Doh brand fun factory ones with the lever you press down. Both broke over time. We've only played with these new ones a few times, but they seem sturdy. Another bonus is that the child can just choose whichever shape he/she wants (unlike the Play Doh one with the lever where it has this thin plastic shape screen you have to insert into the lever, and that is a bit difficult for preschoolers).

There's a lot in this package. Each of the extruders are interchangeable, so you don't have to worry about keeping pieces perfectly together. They are easy to use, and kids can push the extruder against the table if they've put too much play-do in to push with their hands. Play-do comes right off and nothing sticks inside the tubes. A great addition to our play-do fun!

What fun "cause and effect" tools to use with storebought or homemade playdough, modeling clay, or real clay. This is a set of twelve extruders that includes a variety of shapes. There's many sizes and shapes of string/hair/spaghetti(depending on which kid you ask); heart, star, square, leaf and flower shapes; and more. No two are the same. The extruders measure about 3.5 inches long and are sturdy and well suited for preschool use.Kids can just press a lump of playdough or clay into the syringe-like tube and press on the plunger to squeeze out a long piece of shaped dough. Some very young children struggle a bit with this skill at first, but it is great for building hand strength and fine motor skills, and with a little persistence and practice they are able to do it easily.Pair these with butter knives or children's scissors so that children can trim the shaped dough as desired. When they are finished with one project, roll the dough back into a ball, pick another extruder, and begin again! It could also be fun to experiment with the extruders with other substances, such as shaving cream or homemade "gak". The results wouldn't be as perfectly formed, but kids would have a blast and would be able to make some scientific observations about properties of solids and liquids.Clean up and be a bit tricky if not done right away. A pencil can help remove clay/dough from the inside of the tube. Clean up is easiest if dough is removed right away when finished, or if you wait and let dough dry out completely and then discard. The extruders are also washable. These are a lot of fun!
