I use this to remove 6011 and 7018 weld slag and it works perfectly. It also removes cutting dross effectively. I have not tried it for rust or paint removal, but I see no reason why it would not work well fir these tasks.

I was in a pinch, and started buying this item last year when our normal competitor's model was not available for whatever reason. From a price point, I wasn't expecting much compared to what I had been paying for a needle scaler (close to $900), but I was hoping they would at least last 2-3 weeks to get me out of a bind.In the end, I've bought 12 or so of this model in the past year (easier to maintain with only 1 model number over the fleet). Most recently, I purchased the pistol grip version of the 2B, & based on feedback from the field, I will slowly phase out the inline version, and have a fleet of the 2B pistol grip. I hate to say it, but the UK made CS Unitec guns are more reliable than my ole trusty (US) made guns - not to mention much lighter.

I ordered this for removing undercoating off of a classic car... It's way too strong for that type of work. I actually have to get a lighter duty tool. This thing is a beast and makes quick work of anything you need to remove.Well made, great tech and parts support. Definitely for the professionals.

After lots of research and talking with manufacturers of needle scalers. I decided to go with heavy duty industrial CS Unitec needle scaler with chisel, for quality and price. It seemed to be as good as the Ingersoll Rand scaler I been using for years. I was so happy with my choice after receiving it. But about 11 hours of total use within a few months period, the anvil cracked. I take very good care of my tools. It should have lasted years for the amount of use and what I use it for. I never went over 90psi, nor dry fire it and I used the top quality lube for air tools before use, during use and after. I store it in it's own tool box with padding. So with that said, Amazon replaced it with a new tool. Now with about 3 hours use on new tool, I can already see little tiny chips starting in the anvil of new scaler. I should have gone with Ingersoll Rand. If it breaks again Amazon said they would refund me. I really like it too. But one other problem, that I didn't know about until a few days ago, cause first time using chisel that came with it is that where you rotate the part to put chisel in slowly rotates by itself while chiseling and I had to constantly put chisel back in. That is a major design fault if you ask me. If chisel were to fall out somewhere where I couldn't get it back like in the water, I would be out. It shouldn't rotate around just from use. It came out about every 5 minutes during use.My advice is if you work industrial like at a ship yard then this is not the scaler of choice. All though it's advertised that it is heavy duty industrial scaler it is not!
