Keeping it polite, the Motorola CT610 is very unconventional in the layout of its buttons and in function as a phone. As an example of both, there is no re-dial button. To redial you apparently have to push "1" and hold (I had to google it to even find that out!). Manual? Good English, but meaning is often so off-base it had to be written by poorly programed AI. Actually, the phone itself appears AI designed. Terrible! That said, IT AT LEAST WORKS (Which explains the two star review rather than one) ...once one gets it figured out! I bought it for the Motorola name, which decades ago was the best in two-way radios. But, beware, this is not the Motorola of old ...which was apparently sold off long ago.

There is NO button on top of the phone to indicate MENU. I had to guess what button I needed to get phone set-up done. Also, there was a NEW phone number that was assigned to me.... I did NOT read anything in the manual about a new phone number being assigned to me. The only way I knew about this number change was when my sister called me on my regular telephone number and the new phone number showed up after she dialed my old phone number. Not happy with that situation ..... assigning a new phone number to me. How could they do that?????

This is a nice, basic phone. It was pretty easy to set up for this non-techie oldster. I like the pre-recorded answering message too. Has other features, like caller identification, blocking.

Product was relatively easy to set up. Somewhat difficult to use. The major problem is the keyboard functions failed to work after 6 weeks. Motorola notified and issued a case number. 1 week later no progress, customer service called, and I was told there is nothing they can do until they receive a tracking order from the warehouse for a new phone. Still waiting and am an owner of a inoperable phone.

I did not like this as I spent time and petrol trying to find a compatible socket. Each electrical shop I went to said that the jack was not UK standard. I now have the hassle of sending it back. Amazon should not be able to sell UK incompatible products

I have 2 phones in my home, one of which is this device. Purchased less than 1 year ago. My phone line stopped functioning, and phone repair company attended and identified that this phone was the cause - but was causing a short on the line. Phone is not functional - less than one year old

UPDATED REVIEW: Love it! I select the "answer phone" mode instead of "announce". One ring means unknown, robo-dialer or telemarketer. It's great. I'll still turn blocking off when Mom's home alone, but if I'm here, it gives such peace of mind. Get one!Phone is awesome for blocking calls. Using the "announce" option, callers have to press a button to announce themselves. Then, you have the option to receive, deny or send the call to voicemail. There's another option that will just send calls to the answering machine. You can have up to 200 contacts and block up to 1,000 numbers. On the minus side - (1) it only works from the one handset, so if you pick up in a different room, no screening(2) I can navigate the screening options, however, I bought the phone for my 80+ year old Mom, and it's too much for her, (3) I didn't necessarily want to add inconvenience for ALL incoming callers, just the tele-marketers. Even callers whose numbers are on the 'allowed' list have to say their names based on my tests. And (4) the directions are hard to follow.I will keep this phone but will look into cordless phone options that have multiple handsets. How hard would it be to design a phone to only accept numbers in a contact list?

We have a landline phone that has been plagued by spam calls. We first experimented with using a stand-alone call blocker with our existing phone, but found it difficult to specify an appropriate set of filters (numbers, names, area codes) to block the spoofed calls. We just purchased the CT610 phone and so far it has been excellent. It is programmed so that numbers on our contact/white list will ring through (and then the answering machine will pick up after a specified number of rings; currently set to 5). Callers who are not on our contact/white list will get the answering machine after just one ring. Fortunately, spam callers do not bother to leave messages. If a message is left by the caller, the phone will beep intermittently (and this beep can be disabled). Alternatively, the CT610 can be programmed to use an "Announce" mode that requires callers who are not on the contact/white list to give their name, and then the recipient can screen the call before answering. We found this mode to be less convenient. The CT610 phone also has a dedicated "block" button for individual numbers and the ability to block entire area codes. Blocked callers will get a message stating that their call has been blocked, with no option to leave a message. My only complaints are that (1) the Caller ID display shows both the caller's number and name at the time the call is first received, but only the number appears in the call list (except for numbers with an associated name in the contact list), and (2) the LCD display is not backlit, so it can be difficult to see in poor lighting. Overall, this works very well to manage spam calls.

I wasn't sure about this phone/answering machine at first. I was disappointed that it did not have a battery backup. However, it retains the phone numbers that you put in it, so it must have a flash memory in it. So, if the power goes off, you should only have to re-do the outgoing message, you won't have to reenter your friends/family/doctors/etc. numbers. As for the call screening... it is AWESOME! We were inundated with robocalls before getting this phone. We had already signed up for Nomorobo, which is a robocall screener (free for residential phones) that blocks KNOWN robocall numbers, but it didn't work half the time (the robo people have LOTS of numbers to call from). But, this phone WORKS! It fools the robocall computer, but not actual people. It makes our life a lot simpler by not having to erase robocall messages and dead air caused by the robocaller attempts to get through. As for things I don't like... the menu is not intuitive and there is no red light when you get messages (it beeps instead). We pretty much love everything else about it. Call and message quality is great! Big easy numbers and the phone is tilted nicely for viewing. I would recommend it to others, especially those that HATE robocalls!
