Great tool, making life so much easier & the job a lot quicker! No need to ever again sledge hammer away at the knuckle!! I used this on my 2012 Ford Focus Titanium Hatchback when I replaced the struts & shocks. I also used it on my sons 2013 Mazda3 hatchback when it came time to change his struts & shocks out. (The Mazda3 is basically a Ford in many ways, dressed in Mazda clothing, so to speak.). Pretty much all of the Mazda suspension pieces I took apart and/or replaced are stamped/cast with the FoMoCo logo.

I used this on an E39 5-series front strut job. You don't need this tool to do the job, but it is a lot nicer than prying open the knuckle with a screwdriver or similar.

Worked great for the 2011 Jetta SEL suspension job I did. Before you do anything, spray the strut clamp and bolts with PB Blaster and let it soak for a good 30 minutes. Tapping the edge of the collar/clamp helps slide it off the bottom of the strut tube.

After battling the install of the first strut into the knuckle for I dont even know how long, I found this. After it arrived install of BOTH struts took less than an hour, that includes the time to remove and replace the right side that I had not even started on before this arrived!!! Must have!2003 MKIV GTI 1.8TTip: One knuckle was so tight I placed a metal washer in between the socket and the knuckle for a little extra spread and the strut slid right in.

I wasn't sure if this would be the correct size to spread the steering knuckle on my E90 for a strut replacement, but several reviews said it did. I'm happy to say it worked perfectly and easily saved me the headache of trying to hack at it with parts or tools not designed for the job like a chisel or screwdriver. With this spreader, it slides easily into place and effortlessly holds the knuckle apart so you can remove the old strut and pop the new one right in immediately without any struggle. It always helps to have the right tools for the job, and this part was well worth the rather low price for all the time saved and eliminating any potential damage to the steering knuckle by using tools not designed for the job.

worked well on my 2009 CC, and my '17 mk7 gti. there's no problem with the tool,-only vw's design that requires a steel tool to spread an aluminum spindle. the tool mars the spindle no matter which way you use it. again, through no fault of the tool.

Worked like it should. Have done over 15 coilovers installs and it hasn't broken. Worth the money.

This is a lifesaver if you have a suspension where the strut is held in by a carrier collar on the bottom. I've tried this on a 5 series BMW and it works but it could be 1mm wider to spread it out just a bit more to a point where the collar could slide out easier. I had some spare lug bolts sitting around so I took a grinder to it and made my own version of the tool which I did allow the extra 1mm width and also slightly tapered the corners so I could twist it easier. It worked even better for my application and only took 5 min to make with my cut off tool. Also the bolt is grade 8 or higher so I don't have to worry about it twisting or breaking off.
