My original shaft began sliding off of the metal motor shaft whenever I pulled the blade off for cleaning. This replacement shaft works well with my existing machine (model dlc-10 food processor.) and original blade. It was a bit difficult to install because it is such a tight fit to the metal shaft I had to use a wooden mallet to pound it down completely but it is now very tight and the blade fits perfectly onto it.

Just want to leave some similar advice that others have already offered as well as photos for clarity. For me, I didn't find the install challenging, but the removal of my cracked sleeve was unpleasant.First, I tried the method of lifting with a lever system... no go, wasn't going anywhere at all.Resorted to chipping away the plastic piece by piece. If you have to resort to this method:WEAR EYE PROTECTION!!!!My pieces flew all over the place as I chipped it away.I left some photos to show the process, which essentially meant I had to chip all the plastic until I got to the ribbed, brass ring that comes just above the plastic base of the machine. At that point, i sacrificed a small chisel, as I had to break the brass ring until the sleeve finally released enough of the pressure around the metal base coming out of the motor, so that i could lift it out of the machine. At that point, I cleaned up the inside to make sure no plastic pieces were left behind. Then I just lined up the new piece with the metal ridge in order to slide on correctly, and used a 2x2 board I had laying around and have it 5-6 hard whacks with a rubber mallet.

This item works perfectly but you need to read the reviews and file off about 1/16th of an inch (or slightly more) from the bottom of the brass sleeve. If you skip this step, the skirt of the shaft cover will sit too high and rub against the bottom of the bowl and heat will fuse the two parts. File the brass, bevel the inside edge carefully, lube with silicone grease, and then pound it on using a 2 x 4 and a hammer. I just did it and it works great!

Though describe as a replacement for a listed model of food processor, the base is longer than the original one - hopefully some "grinding" will allow it to work properly. In hindsight, I should have discarded the original food processor and simply purchased a newer model. The description indicated that a "professional" should install the replacement part. I'm not sure if I have ever found a "professional" to repair an old food processor.

This item does not fit the Cusinart. I bought it twice and it never worked.

My husband used a large channel lock pliers too. He put a block on the machine base, next to the shaft, that reached just above the top of the shaft. The block spread out the pressure on the base and ensured he was raising the broken part straight up. He attached the channel lock gripping the two flat sides of the broken part. Pushing down on the handle of the channel lock and Using the block as his fulcrum, it slid off pretty easily. Thank you, Archimedes!

This product saved my wife's Cuisinart DLC-7 PRO , in which she had sentimental value. If you want a successful outcome, please read all the reviews to get an idea of what steps to take in installing the new sleeve. 1. Remove the old sleeve. I used a large channel lock plyer to pull the old one off. Be sure you are pulling in a straight line to the shaft. 2. Due to the reviews/reports of the new brass shaft being 1/16 inch too long, I gently used a file to remove the 1/16 inch. I used a metal scribe to etch a line around the shaft, so I knew when to stop. 3. Clean up the shaft, then polish with 600-800 grit (or finer if you have it). 4. Use a silicon lube/spray on the shaft and inside the sleeve. 5. Align the notches in the sleeve to the shaft, slide it on as far as it will go. 6. Get a piece of 2x4 or 4x4, place it directly on top the sleeve, whack it hard with a large hammer. Mine took about 6 good whacks.Glad I filed the brass part of the sleeve down 1/16 an inch, made it fit perfect! It now runs like a charm again!! This sleeve works!

You have to cut and break away the old sleeve from the motor shaft a little at a time. The whole thing is held on by a quarter inch section of the shaft that is knurled towards the base. I used a hack saw to remove the plastic sections and then pop them off with a screwdriver. The new sleeve must align the inside of the unit with the flat side of the motor shaft. If you line it up right it slides down most of the way nicely. Then get a scrap piece of two by four and a hammer and drive the new sleeve down into final position. To do this place the wood on the top of the sleeve and hit it pretty hard to force it down. A half a dozen good stokes should drive it home. Mine runs like new again. Good product.
