I purchased these flashers for my road bike. I have a saddle bag under my seat, so I was looking for a back flasher that would adequately mount on my seat stay. I didn't want to mount the front flasher on the handle bars, so I opted to mount it on the front fork. Both flashers stay well fixed in place even when riding across rough cobblestones. They are nice and bright. I haven't had them long enough to judge battery life, but from the product info they will fit my needs with no problem.

If you are looking for a set of lights, these are perfect for the minimalist without compromising visibility! Both lights are extremely bright and work as described. These have six lighting modes each and run time information provided by the manufacturer is accurate. The front light fits perfectly on my handlebars but the rubber band isn't big enough to fit around the headtube of my bike keeping it off the handlebars. It would be awesome if the manufacturer would make a larger rubber band to fix this and provide additional mounting options.Overall these two lights work great!

I’ve owned a lot of small usb rechargeable lights but the Cygolite Hotrod beats all of them. I have had these for almost two years now. They are still going strong.1. Brightness. Both front and rear have sufficient brightness and a variety of light modes. The light mode I find myself using a lot is the low flash. It says low flash, but my no means is it “low”. During sunset to the darkest of nights, this low flash setting is unbelievably bright. To add, this setting goes for 32 hours before a recharge is needed. I had a pair of Serfas Tridents, and those went on for around 8 hours before needing a charge (on the low flash). If the road is really dark, the hotrod at it’s highest brightness (High Steady) does a decent job. I can see around 5 feet ahead of me, luckily I also have another light on for these scenarios. The Cyolite Hotrod is for sure a “to be seen” light, not so much of a “to see the road” type of light, if you guys get what I mean.2. Form factor. The light itself is really small. Around 8cm long. Despite this, like I said, the battery life is exponential. The straps are also very convenient for whatever seatpost you have. I have the Specialized Venge post and the straps work just fine. I had another bike with a 27.2 seatpost, the straps also did just fine then too. The straps have been in use daily for almost 2 years with no sign of wear. The light itself is of robust quality too. I dropped it countless times, and the plastic cover on the rear light covering the LED did crack. But honestly, it spreads the light sideways now sooooo haha. Kidding, but it still works like a charm. No water has seeped in either.3. Price? A lot of people may argue that spending almost 60 dollars for a pair of lights isn’t worth it. I’d have to argue against that. A light is for you to be seen at night. I’d rather spend good money on a QUALITY bike light and be safe. Rather than, spend my money on a cheapo light and risk it all. I convinced a lot of fellow friends to buy this light and all of them will tell you the same thing “it was worth it”.Conclusion?Buy this. If you’re in the market for a new small light, this will suit your needs. Not only is it bright, the light is tough, long lasting, and small. I hope this review helped any of you. Thank you!The advertised weight is accurate btw.(4 years later)The lights are still working, bright, and used daily. These lights have been through a lot. Countless charge cycles, yet it still hasn't failed. The battery life is still great.

Another solid set of lights from Cygolite. Cygolite is a trustworthy brand that actually delivers on its lumen claims, unlike most of the garbage knockoffs you will find on Amazon. Just be aware of what these are and aren't.The dimmest continuous setting, the one which corresponds to the highest listed run time, is quite dim. It's good for marking your location while night riding in a group (as to avoid blinding people ahead of or behind you), but it's not sufficient for solo night riding visibility. Also, the front light is quite bright, but the pattern is widely diffused. This is fine, though, as I don't think the front light is meant to be a substitute for a focused headlamp. The diffuse patterns of both lights is actually a boon when you use them properly. These lights are more for being spotted than spotting things.I angle both lights slightly downward, and I use them on the high continuous setting to make myself more visible to up-close drivers while riding in the city. The wide angle of the dispersion pattern means you cast a wide glow that's visible from all directions. Since many of the most serious bike vs. automobile accidents happen at relatively slow speeds, in places like intersections, that kind of omnidirectional, close-up visibility is very valuable.I also use a rear flasher and proper headlamp for distance visibility at night. All of that might seem excessive, but I mostly ride in a big city that consistently ranks in the top 10 highest accident rates in the USA, so I bike with an abundance of caution. They're also light. I weigh all my parts myself. The front clocked in at 36 grams for me, and the rear clocked in at 35 grams. This was including the retention strap.

Great light set. Low profile, very light, USB rechargeable, long battery life, and bright. These do not work to light up the road, but they are great to make yourself visible. They have several modes, and more importantly, remember which mode they were in when you turned them off.My only gripe is the USB cover is a bit fragile. It is part of the gasket that seals the two halves, and there are no screws holding it on. I accidentally ripped one off the very first time I charged it, just tore it from the thin rubber gasket rather easily. Be careful not to pull on the USB flap at all. I was able to get it back in, and Cygolite supposedly has sent me a replacement gasket though I have yet to receive it.Edit: update! Cygolite sent me the replacement gasket, I got it in the mail Saturday; I am so glad I didn't have to send the light to them for repair. Great lights, great customer service.
