I do not understand how people are giving this thing good ratings. Neither I nor my wife nor my kids could manage this thing with any kind of ease - on the side of a V-hull 14" jon boat, it immediately slips under the hull and makes getting up impossible. Maybe it's much better with a flat hull, but it still seems like it would slip right under. I'd think hard about buying this unless you are all doing Army-style pullups every day.

works very simply and was just adapted to my simple purpose: my ladder was too short to get back in the boat easily. So I tie up the Swim Stirrup's line to one of the existing ladder step, and Voilà. I have a longer ladder.

Perfect solution to trying to get up in a dinghy.just loope the rope over the rope that came with the dinghy.

We are old and without the upper body strength to pull ourselves out of the water onto the swim platform of our boat. While shopping for a ladder which would attach to the swim platform, I ran across this less expensive, no installation, alternative. And am I glad I did! It is easily attached to a tow ring or cleat. When you are in the water, you put one foot on the step and use your hands to grab the tunnel of the boat or other hardware on the boat. The combination of the stepping and pulling makes the return from the water to the boat a breeze, even if you are as out of shape as are we. ONE CAVEAT: Don't forget to deploy the step before you get out of the boat. Decline in memory and decline in physical prowess are frequently on a similar trajectory.

It floats and sometimes moves under the dinghy...but oh em gee does it make getting into a dinghy from the water soooooo much easier. I was already tired from snorkeling and this helped us all get into the dinghy. Even the more experienced people on the trip used the stirrup. Mind you, they gave me grief for buying it and packing it into our small carry-on bags for our vacation. But they ALL used it. Yeah, who’s laughing at me now!!!

I hate to go out snorkeling in the dinghy and then have to be hauled back in the boat and risk having my arms pulled out of their sockets. This did the trick and was easy and cheap. Just tied the ladder on to one of the hand holds of the dinghy. I put my left foot on the step, kept my snorkeling fin on my right foot, then with a little kick of the right foot, slipped right up into the dinghy unassisted. It was so easy.

Has a tendency to move under the boat. We moved the step to the back of the boat. It works better. Decent way to get in the biat without a true boat ladder.

I bought this because it was highly rated by Boat US for inflatable dinghy's and jonboats. The number 1 ladder from the jonboat, the David Swim Stirrup, also ranked highest on the RIB. It was the perfect length (about 20 inches below the waterline) for all the testers. See the following link for details: [...]The also produced a video of this product being used at: [...]
