after 250K miles my 6.4 starter was starting to work intermittently. Held in by 3 13mm bolts on the passenger side of the truck where the transmission and engine meets the starter is accessed from under the truck. Disconnect the batteries, disconnect the wiring harness to the starter (one of the bolts is a double bolt for the ground) and remove all bolts and replace starter. The top bolt (that you can't see) is the hardest, i used a power socket wrench, small extension and a universal joint.starter works great, sounds a little different, i can't say that it's any better other than actually working!

This is such a great upgrade for my 6.0 Excursion. My truck has 160k miles on it and while my original starter was still working, the 6.4 starter is just a massive upgrade, especially for those in colder climates as the truck just turns on faster.

Had an already working starter . Bought on a whim to test quality of manufacturer DB. Delivered on time, starter was protected/packaged well. Came with testing write up completed on starter.From my 10 second eyeball & feel-up sure seemed like a 6.4 power stroke starter.Installed on my 2005 6.0 power stroke in 20mins with zero issue . Starter cameWith oddball size nuts for wiring terminations on solenoid. Tossed em in the bush and put Nuts from stock 6.0 starter .Truck whirls over much faster as expected , start times have gotten shorter and overall just better .Longevity of unit Has yet to be tested . Been in truck for 2 months no issues , first winter in NWO were temps Dip -40 Celsius often is on the horizon . Will update

I purchased this because I wanted to upgrade the OE starter on my 6.0. Although I didn't have any issues with the original, I'm glad I did this swap. Once removed, I could feel the internals of the OE "move" around.Install was a breeze. Literally a 20 minute job. One word of caution; if you don't unplug your block heater for this swap, make sure it is still plugged all the way in after install. I found out the next morning that mine wasn't. Makes for a cold 1st 15 minutes of the ride in the AM.The difference the starter makes when turning the engine over is night and day. The truck starts faster, which is why I did this. And from I have read, it has a lower amp draw than the original one. And for the money and Prime shipping... Too good of a deal to pass up.
