Awesome product! There was quite a bit of splicing and adding additional wire to this set up if you want the up-and-down switch on your boat console (I was expecting this before purchasing). If you do not want to have the up and down switch on your boat console, absolutely by the other Minn Kota 25lb winches with the up-and-down switch that is built directly into the wench. This will save you a ton of time. The unit size is also great for smaller traditional fishing boats. It fit fine on my Lund Deep V. The 40 pound winches are huge and are better off for a pontoon and not a 14 to 16 foot fishing boat.Absolutely a great product and it is working awesome with 20 pound anchors on my set up.

Everything works great after I shortened the chain, it was pulling through the davit anchor guide and chain was getting stuck in the rope guide. All is good now that is fixed.

Quality product. Good retrieval speed. Holds river type anchor securely in the davit during travel.

Works well. Hard to install in my 17' lumicraft competitor. It might not be as difficult in other boats to install. It would be easier to install in a pontoon. It does work the way it says.

The product performs well. I've had it stall out when the anchor is loaded with weeds and one-(1) time, on a windy day the anchor rope jumped off the lower pulley and became wedged between the pulley and the davot frame. This made it difficult to retrieve the anchor.Neither things would deter me from recommeding it.

Very happy with the operation of the Deckhand. Installed per instructions and connected to the battery without any problems. Included pictures so a person can get an idea how it might fit on their particular boat. I was unsure if it would work but with a few minor alterations it fit quite nicely along my trolling motor.I placed the remote control where I can access it outside the boat when pushing off or pulling up on our local ramp. I needed to cut a small portion of aluminum trim on the deck and placed nuts under Deckhand to shim it up. Ran the mounting bolts down through the over sized shim nuts and tightened below the deck. I have a 15 lb. anchor on the unit. I had a 24 volt trolling motor on the boat before so I now use the Deckhand with its' own battery and my new Minnkota 55 (12 volt) is on a separate battery. Note of caution: you will need to have your battery somewhere near the front of the boat or be prepared to run some extension cable to the front.I am 80 years old and in reasonably good physical condition but having this Deckhand unit has really helped making my fishing trips a little easier. Highly recommend based on 4 trips so far.

I also have a MinnKota Deckhand 40, and it's hard to believe it and the 25 are sold by the same company. The description says it comes with a 12-foot remote switch cord. that is factual but not truthful. The cord for the battery hookup also runs through the remote, and it's only 6 feet long. that means you can mount the 25 "anywhere on the boat" that's within 6 feet of the battery. on the 40, the wiring for the motor is separate, and the remote cord is 25 feet long. The instruction manual is virtually worthless. It does have a smaller footprint than the 40, which is why I bought it.

DH25, using a 15lb anchor on the river. I was very skeptical and read almost every review I could find before deciding on this one. 1st trip out it worked beautifully, it goes down to bottom, then releases line until you hit the button to stop. Depending on amount of line out, it may skip until it grabs ahold. It retrieves the anchor way better than I thought it would, no problem, comes right in while pushing the button. It got stuck once, used trolling motor plus retrieving at the same time, it was too much for it and popped the reset button. Have used it 3-4 times now and this little thing is great relief on my shoulders and no more wet hands when it's cold out. So far, very happy & hope it lasts awhile.

Great Little Electric Anchor. I'm using mine on 14ft boat with an eighteen pound anchor.Raises & lowers without any problems at all. The remote switch is mounted by my controls so you don't have to get up and down to raise or lower the anchor. I like the fact that the anchor powers up and powers down rather than free falling down as some other models do. Only negative I have is the anchor divit is stationary rather than the type that rolls up and stores the anchor on top. I decided to use mine without the divit and bought an anchor for the Deckhand 15 to use on my Deckhand 25. This anchor has a mechanical lock that stores the anchor horizontal in the winch and mechanically locks the anchor in place for transport. Very nice combination. Definately would buy another one and definately would recommend it to anyone looking for a small electrical anchor system.
