Single speed, heavy duty, heavy. Hard to control at first, but if you let the heft work for you, it gets easier. YOU MUST ORDER THE FLANGES SEPARATELY! This cannot be repeated enough. It comes with NOTHING to mount wheels, blades, grinders, etc... That should be enough to warrant a two-star deduction, but it's so damn strong, it earns one back.

This tool is a beast! It is simple to operate and it is perfect for grinding concrete. If you use it on concrete be sure to purchase a vacuum dust collector for it. Concrete and cement dust are something not to be taken lightly by anyone. Wear a mask and have a HEPA filter system on your shop vac. I would recommend the Dust Deputy collection system. It will save you a small fortune in shop vac filters.

Heavy duty tool for heavy duty work. I bought this after burning up several 4 inch grinders. The monster still lives.

This was my first Dewalt tool, will never purchase another one period. The operating trigger is too heavy to hold down for a long time, the constant on button is detrimental to use. The first trigger you need to press down to get the trigger to function is absurd, may be good for the DIY person but not for a professional. The tool does not come with the required pieces needed to use the tool, that is the flanges and mounting nuts for the various different grinding discs and stones one would use with the tool. One guard comes with the tool, the others are extra, if you purchase the extra pieces REQUIRED to use the tool it adds up to another $100.00 in addition to the cost of the tool. The user manual states the part numbers for these extras but you are not told of these extras before you purchase the tool. The numbers they state for these are not valid numbers, then you call Dewalt to try to locate these extras they do not recognize the numbers either, their customer service people are incompetent and never used their hands or tools for anything, therefore they cannot help you. The electric plug at the end of the tools' cord is also useless does not hold into the power source and keeps falling out, even. After you install new receptacles or connectors thinking that was the problem it is not it's the tools' plug. You write to the company called Dewalt they do not reply back to you. Do like I am now doing do not buy this junk, go and search for old used tools that were made for hard work not like the junk these manufacturers are passing off as great tools!
