When Dimarzio decided to go for the vintage Tele sound, they knew they had to do more than just copy a forty-year-old design. They wanted pickups that captured the best elements of their favorite Broadcaster and Telecaster sounds - and then some. The Twang King pickups have unequalled response to pick attack: light playing produces a soft, quiet tone and hard picking creates a harder, louder, and more dynamic sound than any comparable single-coil. DiMarzio accomplished this with a combination of controlled-tension coil-winding, special wire, and hand-calibrated magnets. Wax-potted twice for squeal-free performanceThe Chopper T Bridge is the louder, punchier brother of the Fast Track T. More power is concentrated in the mids and low end for a bigger sound with more crunch. It shares the same side-by-side coils and twin-blade construction as the Fast Track T, so there are no string alignment or magnet-pull problems. And of course, there's no noise.

The Chopper T came with scratches on both sides and a loose cover. The twang king looked new. At least both pickups did mark the correct DC resistance.

I bought a second hand Fender Player Tele. I loved the look and feel and playability, but the stock factory pickups were just very bland, and very noisy. I threw in this set and WOW!! higher output with more clarity and sweeter harmonics. The chopper is not a single coil, but it keeps that "tele" vibe while also beefing up the overall sound. And the neck TK is glassy and just beautiful. It actually sounds closer to a Strat neck than a normal Tele. I did install a Bourns push-pull on the tone control to allow a more traditional bridge sound. Also, not sure why but I had to flip the polarity of the neck pickup for the middle position. Not a big deal, but just something to know before you buy. I have been a gigging and recording musician for over 25 years. These pickups ROCK!!!!

Great sound. The bridge p/u isn't for a traditional Tele player (if you want that sound). I guess it's possible if you coil tap, but not on my standard 3-way setup. Sounds great for a little more gainy tone and is QUIET. The Twang King neck p/u is the best sounding neck pickup I have ever played. So sweet.

This is the Richie Kotzen pickup setup in his signature telecaster. I though I'd give it a try. In reflection, the Chopper T really makes a Telecaster not sound like a Tele anymore and I think I'll probably go back to a more traditional single coil for the bridge. Be aware that you may have to ground this pickup separately as it doesn't have a conductive metal part like a traditional Telecaster bridge pickup. The "Twang King" neck pickup on the other hand, is fantastic and a very classic sound.
