Nice cast iron sandwich maker. I like the round option because sometimes you like to use hamburger buns as opposed to square bread. These are well made and consider all the aspects of cooking with cast iron. Care for this press the same as you would care for your cast iron skillet. If you neglect proper care you will have issues. It's always fun to cook with these with the kids, they absolutely love using these. They are so versatile and you can make so many more things than just sandwiches. We like to make pizza sandwiches and fruit pies and the like. The only thing I didn't like was the handles were so short. But then again, if you are using this over a gas fireplace the short handle is a plus. Also you can remove the handles so you may be able to put longer handles on them if you need and the ability to remove the handles is a huge plus when it comes to ease of cleaning. If I could suggest one improvement in my opinion would be if they came with 2 sets of handles, one short and one long. That would be perfect.

My uncle had one of these when I was growing up and we called the sandwiches "flying saucers." Some butter or margarine in the sides, a slice of bread in each, and a bunch of American cheese folded into fourths. I've burned myself so many times. And now I can do that again! I had no idea these were traditionally Cuban and assumed it was for camping. Makes sense though as my family is Cuban and my uncle couldn't survive without air conditioning.Made of cast iron so you can get some iron in your food, it stays hot and heats pretty evenly, and it lasts forever assuming you take care of it. The best part is it seals the sandwiches for you! Hear me out, Pulled Pork Uncrustable, Egg and Brisket Uncrustable. Sandwiches are the most versatile food, have fun with your combinations.

This Cuban sandwich press is solid and well-made, perfect for getting that crispy, pressed finish on sandwiches. We’ll be using it right over the gas stove, and it’s just the right size for making hearty, toasty sandwiches for the whole crew. It heats evenly and gives a nice, golden crust. The wooden handles are good for handling it safely, but they’re a bit too short for using over an open fire while camping. So, it’s staying in the kitchen for now. Still, it’s going to get a lot of use, because around here, a good sandwich is serious business.

Great little tool to have in the kitchen for making Cuban-like sandwiches. The pan contains two cast iron sides that can be connected together with a hook. Pictured here are beef, cheese, and pepper sandwiches that came out amazing. I rolled each piece of bread slightly with a rolling pin prior to stuffing, to help it fit in the pan better. I also used cooking spray on each inner side of the pan to help prevent the bread from sticking. Alternatively, you can use butter or whatever else you prefer. The sandwiches can be stuffed with shredded pork, chicken, or even peanut butter and jelly. They almost look like Uncrustables. The cheese inside helps hold the filing and the edges seal fairly quickly. I found it easy to trim the excess bread by running a knife around the pan while the sandwich was still cooking. It took a while for the bread to get some color on it; however, I used the induction stove and think that gas stove may have been better. The sandwiches still came out really good in the end and I am happy that I have this handy tool in my kitchen collection.
