Throw two in your chainsaw bag/case. Last forever and so freaking fast to use. Highly visible and writes on any wood regardless of anything. Bark, wet, smooth, etc.

Visible on a variety of different trees, wet or dry. I use a crayon holder, and have no problem with breakage.

I use these for marking logs to cut into fire wood. They mark on wet, dry and even slimy parts of the logs where wet bark has been pulled away. For a length guide I use a 2x2 stick with ends painted a bright color so I can easily find it and I use the Dixon holder to keep the crayons from breaking. The hard lumber crayons just don't work well for my purpose. I took off one star because these are quite fragile without the holder and the soft crayons only come in very few colors, By the way, the holders are 4.99 at Lowe's.I tried a Mingo firewood marker that uses spray paint to mark the logs but the simple Dixon soft crayons are faster, neater and easier to use.
