Most dog whistles, are silent, and only, the dogs can hear them although this is metal. It sounds just like a regular whistle.

Very nicely finished. Not Super loud, but SHRILl. May work for dog training, but for close up, I'll stick to my clicker.

…..and I must say this is a very nice whistle, equal to the asking price.Good tone, nice engraving, a pleasing weight, and solid in the hand.I would order this again if needed. Might make an interesting gift!

This is a brass emergency style whistle. It is fairly heavy and has a nice loud sound to it. It was very easy to blow into and the sound it created was not overly shrill or harsh. There was an engraving on the sides that looked nice. It was nicely finished with no rough edges. It came in a very simple box so if you wanted to gift it, you'd have to put it in something else. The lanyard is came with is pretty cheap and won't hold up to much abuse. A sharp tug on it will probably break it at the attachment point or even anywhere in the middle. I will probably change out the lanyard. It's a very nice whistle but I think it may be a bit pricey considering you have to replace the lanyard and it just comes in a very cheap little box. It would be better if it were a bit less or maybe came with a nice leather lanyard. I'm not sure I would buy it again at the current price.

I cannot seem to figure out how to whistle loudly to call my dogs in from their romps in the woods. This whistle does the job! I like that it is brass. It looks like jewelry and is attractive to wear. It is a good value for the money and is easy to use.
