this was a replacement order for one that arrived destroyed. this fit perfectly and made a huge improvement over the 25 year old stock rag joint. this is well worth the investment. yes the cheap plastic cover is not as good as the factory original rubber. it did crack getting it into place but i knew this was possible going into it from other reviews i had read, if i were to do it again i would have used the stock rubber cover it is much more forgiving.

Almost perfect need to know item will extend to fit perfect .Install Bottom half first but you will need to install top bolt to keep shaft in place some slight tapping may be required when installing top you can slide rubber sleave down to apply Vise grips to shaft to tap into place then Remove upper Bolt to set . Bam Your Done other than that Time Will tell

Made my 1995 Chevy 2500 pickup easier to drive for sure! It was drifting in the driving lane pretty bad but now it tracks fairly straight. Nothing like it was. Of course it's not perfect (old truck) but 90-95% better. I'm satisfied with the purchase. Also saved $50-$150 over local auto parts store asking prices.Installation note: the OEM part came off (or goes on) the splines on the gear box with bolt only loosened. This Dorman replacement shaft would only go on (or off) with bolt out due to the slightly lower hole position. Other than that initial headache, it was an easy install.
