I had a timing belt tensioner fail and send the belt into the OEM cover cutting it up a bit as well as 20+ years of engine heat cycles had worked on it so I purchased the Dorman to give it a try. Not only did it look and fit exactly like the original if anything it is a better grade of material and exponentially less expensive. Win all around.

The items did not fit. To get the upper cover to fit I cut it in half (front to back) removed a few millimetres, plastic welded the parts together again and then installed it. In the case of the bottom cover I held it in place with 3 of the 4 bolts and left the upper rear bolt out. By doing this I could squeeze the cover in place. It's best to get the genuine Mazda covers if you can.

It's a great budget alternative to purchasing these covers new from Mazda, at a fraction of the price, but the quality definitely reflects that. Both pieces required some massaging to get installed, but once on and tightened down they function fine. The top cover was easier to fit than the bottom one.

When changing the timing belt on my wife's Mazda, I found that the upper timing cover was broken in a couple of places. The dealer wanted $85 for the part. Amazon had this aftermarket set for less than the upper cover at the dealer, even with overnight shipping. (since I needed to get the car back together asap) These covers seem to be every bit as good as oem in fit and function. Don't hesitate to get these if you have a broken cover - I feel that you would be wasting your $$$ to spend the extra for the dealer part.
