The cover was lower quality stamped steel than the original. It also did not have the timing tab that the original had and was missing 2 holes for the oil pan bolts. This may work fine in some engines, but will not work for those that require the timing tab installed, I returned this product.

This cover fits pretty well, but I had to grind a little off the bottom of the water pump that sits above it to get it to line up properly. Also does not have a timing pointer built in like the original. I was not able to find an add-on timing pointer like the covers for the V-8's have. There might be one available but I was unable to locate one. It also seems a little thinner than the original, but for the price I think it is worth it. I highly recommend adding several coats of good paint to it before installing.

For the price of $15 I don’t think you can beat it. Had to replace my MerCruiser timing cover due to rust, only drawback no timing tag and you must drill two holes for oil pan. For $15 no big deal. I use your old time in color mark zero location for timing.

Cheap stamped steel. Crank seal doesn’t stay tight in the cover. No timing tab and no holes on the bottom for the oil pan. Waste of time and money

This is a nice solid cover and came with a gasket and seal. It wasn't clear if it would fit a 292 but it fits my '73. It may need to have 4 small holes drilled in the lower flange, two for the oil pan and two for the gasket nubs. Depends on your pan and gasket. It does not come with a timing pointer like some of the stock covers. Not a big deal since the stock cover pointer I have is in the wrong place for the timing marks on the new pulley anyway. The stock cover has two layers of steel on the oil pan mounting flange. This cover has a single layer but it is sturdy.

Fits perfect. Just had to drill the bottom two holes on the oil pan gasket side.

used this part to replace the front cover on my 3L mercuiser engine as I accidentally punctured the oem front cover while removing crank shaft pulley.I had to drill holes for 2 bolts to seal to oil pan. Did not fit very nice on front of block or to oil pan. Would recommend going OEM because if it leaks I will need to replace again.

Installed on my mercruiser 3.0l. Need to drill a couple of holes for new oil pan gasket and install a couple bolts. Beats the ~200 one and is holding up just fine.
