Not the simplest job due to the location of the thermostat on this engine but it fit and solved the overheating issue we were having due to stuck thermostat.

It did technically work and fix the issue but seems pretty flimsy

I was skeptical because I saw a review from somebody stating that the thermostat opened at 150° f. I tried it myself the night before and it did not open until close to 200° f which is normal for a 2008 Mazda 3. The actual install process is pretty straightforward there is a ton of YouTube videos out there for it. This thing popped right in the place and worked right off the bat

I get it, I probably just got a defective item. But after the long thermostat job of an NC miata, I was extremely irate to see this thermostat performing worse than the worn out and lazy oem thermostat that came off the car. This could have been avoided if I boiled and observed this thermostat before installing it.To do this, boil a pot full of water and monitor the thermostat as the water's temp increases. This defective thermostat started opening at 150F, which is far too cold for an NC. It should be fully open by 200F, but the usual problem on an NC is it opening too soon and the car running cold, which drastically increases wear on the engine.

Used it in an 07 Miata. My car was giving me a code for "insufficient temperature for normal operation." These thermostats are notorious for sticking open, this allowing coolant to enter the engine before it has to, thus running at a colder temperature and throwing a code. My Miata was running at around 150F and wouldn't go much over that temperature. A functioning thermostat is supposed to open at 180F. All in all, great part at a great price.

This fit my 2007 mazda 3 perfectly and it has the improved thermostat. Been working for 6 months. I coupled this with a new water temp sensor to make it a complete job.
