Ford discontinued the cable for the 1992 Ranger. This will work! Use a dremel tool to work some of the plastic back to fit the door latch handle. It is about 18” shorter than the rangers but with a bit of determination, it does work. Very good alternative to the 200$ NOS cables or having to roll down your window to open.

This the second one of these I have installed within a couple years. Seems like a good product but stretched. Liked it enough to buy it twice.

My uncle made this work for his 92 ranger, tight fit with the cable length. And he had to use a cheap rotary dremel to shave it to make the bulkier plastic piece fit Make sure you run it so that the window does not hit it when rolling it down as well.

Got here fast, worked perfect... No problems, other than the install being a pain, but that's because it's in a hard place to get to ....

I have a 1992 Ford ranger XLT that had a broken driver side door cable. No one made a replacement cable for this except Ford and they wanted over $150 for one. This i felt was ridiculous for what you get. This product is shorter than the Ranger cable but will work with some modification. there is a groove on both ends of the housing that mount into the handle assembly and the latching assembly. both have to be widened to fit onto the Ranger parts. I did the work with a grinder cutting wheel but a knife, dremel, or similar tool will do the trick. be careful not to cut into the black cable housing. also on the latch side, you should remove the provided rubber seal that keeps the cable clean and use the original one from the ranger. The ranger seal is wider and holds the spring better. Put the latch back into the car first with the cable attached, followed by all the rod connections, and then with the cable snaked through the door properly, connect it to the door handle. I had to put the handle inside the door frame to get the cable connected and then pull it back out once the connection was made. Good luck and I hopes this help out some fellow Ranger owners!
