The manufacturer calls these catfish floats but if you add split rings and hooks you’ll turn them into great surface fishing lures. They’ll catch all kinds of fish which feed on the surface.Bass, pike and even saltwater fish will go after these. They’ve got bright, colorful finishes which fish will easily see and they have built in rattles for additional fish attracting ability. The rattles are like ringing a dinner bell for the fish you’re after. The lures are made from tough plastic and they’ll stand up to toothy predators. These are definitely worth adding to your tackle box.

Nice set of 6 floating rattling lures similar to a spook. They are not holographic, but have good colours never the less. The mono tied circle hooks are sharp and strong. You could easily add a couple trebles to the body and remove the circle hooks and use them for pike and bass.

Don’t know about a catfish float but these are great little top water baits for bass . Put some hooks on them and work them like a Zara spook and hold on cus they stick fish … I like the bigger size like a 6” for big fish but these smaller ones work good to .. Paint is nice , finish is great …good product ..

I say 'alternative', but really they're almost identical in every way except the weight. Length is a true 4" from the nose to the tail eyes and I stuck on a couple of #2 trebles with a red one on the front. The picture shows the rattles to be in the rear, but they actually vibrate the entire body, which is a characteristic that's often overlooked on spooks. The rear rattles also give great balance to the body while casting so the casting distance is on par with the Heddon. As for walking, they're super buoyant and the bellies are smooth so they walk brilliantly. Btw, if you ever have a problem with baits not walking, just stick a heavier hook on the back and make sure to use mono to keep that head up. Not a fan of split rings on the nose eye either. Loop knots are fine.Really the only cheap parts are the eyes themselves, which don't feel particularly of good quality or too securely mounted to the body (although you can see how it's done on the clear one). Already caught a good sized smallmouth on the clear but I wouldn't bet on them lasting for more than a couple seasons. Might even break off on a particularly long day of casting tbh, so just be discerning when it comes to your choice of equipment. Due to their light weight, they could easily be used on spinning setups.Personally, I absolutely love the clear and clown coloured ones since they basically cover the gamut as far as water clarity. All you need is a black one for low light conditions and you're all set. They cast well, they walk well and the rattles are mid-range in frequency which is a good all-rounder. Four stars from me!

I got these to make top water spooks. They are loud but don’t walk the dog quite as easily as a conventional spook body. I think the shape doesn’t glide quite as well as a straight body spook. But you can work them in place at a slower pace.

This is a revised review because I misunderstood one of the features, and Dovesun sent me a respectful email that explained what I misunderstood. These are Santee Cooper catfish rigs. Each rig has a 23” leader, a 3.5” demon-dragon style float, a swivel, double rattle beads, and an offset octopus hook tied with a snell knot. The webpage states the leader line is 55 test pounds. Although the webpage didn't saywhat kind of line it is, Dovesun informed me that the leader line is made of monofilament. I initially had problems with one of the floats moving up toward the bait/hook. Dovesun informed me that I could adjust the rattle bead which will restrict the movement of the float at a distance I desired, so that corrected my initial concern and misunderstanding. Overall, the quality appears to be decent and the price point seems okay.

I got these floating lures to use for both catfish floats and for topwater bass fishing; they can be used to keep bait off the bottom and attract big catfish, and it's very easy to add a treble hook to the middle and rear eyelets for bass. I also have some propellers to add to the front eyelet that will drive big bass crazy in this cooler weather. Very durable, nice variety of patterns, loud rattles, and can be cast a long way. Excellent product!
