We don’t get a lot of leaves in the downspouts, but this is catching the few that are going in before they head off to the buried pipes to prevent a bigger issue. Easy to install and fits great. Can't beat the price either.

While the construction of this product seems sturdy and well-made, unfortunately, it doesn’t fit my irrigation hoses. It does seem to fit the downspout however.

UPDATE:Well, it finally rained, and it rained a lot. The issue is, I have larger size downspouts, I believe they're 5 inch, but they fit this filter as advertised, the issue is in the design. The larger sized spouts are designed to go on the outer ring of the filter and the smaller size fit inside the smaller ring on the filter; ok that's fine. The issue is the water runs down the sides of your downspouts and when they hit this filter, there is no actual place for the water to drain through the filter, it has to pool up and go over the edge of the inner ring to go through. So when we have very heavy downpours, the water was simply pouring out the sides where the existing downspouts connect to the filter. I am going to attempt to drill some drainage holes around the outer ring so the water has a place to go sooner, but I'm afraid when it rains heavy this will still be an issue.Good news is, the leaf filters worked and collected a lot of debris before it went underground, but unfortunately I still have a water issue with all the water pouring around my foundation where these filters are. Looks like I'm going to have to rethink this again.SO, if you have smaller downspouts, this would probably work better, I can't speak on that, but if you have the larger spouts, be ready to do some modifications and keep an eye on them during heavy rains. Also worth noting, the leaf guard DOES work, but you really need to be good at checking and cleaning them or you will have more water issues because it will simply get clogged and pour over. So, they work, but it means checking them after every rain if you have a lot of leaves and debris.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Even though I was promised rain the last 3 days, we haven't had any yet so I can't say for sure yet if these are functioning well IN RAIN. But I wanted to get my review started at least and can always come back to update if something changes. The installation was easy, depending on what you currently have for gutters. For me, we just got all new gutters but the installer did not install leaf catchers at the bottom like he said he would. Instead of fighting that, I just got my own and did it myself better than they would have anyway. The problem was, they installed the gutters so snug that I had a heck of a time undoing them to get the new guards in place. Assuming you don't have this issue, you shouldn't have a hard time getting these placed. Even with my issues, I still got it done in under an hour.Because I had my downspouts already installed, like most people buying this probably will, I had to cut the downspout shorter to accommodate the larger insert. This was pretty easy to do if you have the proper tools to cut downspouts, but make sure you do or you'll have a heck of a time trying to make clean cuts. Once I knew how much to trim back, I made my cuts and was able to insert this new guard easily. I have the larger 5in downs and they fit snug inside like they should. There is a smaller diameter for the smaller sized downspouts as well.A few things to note: The bottom is rounded and will only fit on a round bottom. Like the black corrugated pipe used normally for underground discharge. You can NOT put this in the middle of your downspout and continue down with a standard rectangular spout. This should be obvious by the item description but worth noting. Also worth noting, the provided screws are WAY too long in my opinion. They will work just fine, and do have a self tapping tip which is great, but you should really buy the gutter screws that are short and hex top for this job. They're the same screws the rest of your downspouts are using most likely and the reason is the screws they provide are too long and they could help create the very problem you're trying to fix. They could get caught on sticks and twigs and leaves and cause a clog. So use the shortest screws you can to prevent any snagging.Other than that, these are perfect little filters to help keep your underground spouts clean and clog free. The cover slips off pretty easy, I'm curious how it will handle heavy downpours, but I may just take them off and then visually be able to see when they are clogged and spewing water. Either way, it's not really a knock on the products performance so even if they pop off or something, they should still work as advertised. Hopefully we get some rain soon so I can check them out in action.

I had a twofold reason for getting this 'system' to install at my home. I was re-doing my concrete drive and walks and needed to improve the drainage away from my home. Worked beautifully for both.I ran expandable corrugated pipe prior to pouring the concrete and attached an emitter to the opposite end. I then ran pipe about 14 feet from my home to provide better drainage away from a corner than had an issue with water accumulation after a rain. Worked well.I like the 'filters' that help keep larger debris from clogging the emitter end...keeps the maple tree seeds from filling the drain. The verdict is still out on the 'doors' that cover the filters; I'm uncertain if the pressure of the water during a heavy rain may actually cause some seeds to be forced through the filter into the drain. Haven't had the occasion to test that yet. The doors certainly give a neat appearance but may not function well with a lot of debris during a heavy rain.Overall, I'm quite pleased with both the look, function and sturdiness of the downspout adapters.

I'm creating a water reclamation setup from roof runoff, and this is the perfect element to filter out debris before the water makes it to the tank. Sturdy and nicely made. Nice that it comes in white and black so you can match your prefered gutter setup.

The gutter downspout performed adequately, effectively directing water away from the foundation. Installation was straightforward, and it fit seamlessly with my existing setup. While it didn't exceed my expectations, it gets the job done without any major issues.

For the quality of the product it seems expensive. That said, it does what it says it will do and appears to be durable enough to withstand the elements. Time will tell if the plastic holds up to UV exposure or if it falls apart.Works well to allow leaves to exit without blocking my drains.
