These rims are part of what makes a set of solid, all-season training wheels. They're adequately light and plenty strong. With 25c tires, they roll smoothly on most roads here in Colorado with confident cornering and braking. For reference, my build was with a set 24h rims (front and back) with a DT Swiss 350 front hub, a PowerTap GS rear hub, and straight-pull DT Swiss Competition double-butted spokes (2.0/1.8) using 12mm nipples on front and 16mm nipples on the back.Strengths:- Excellent fit and finish. These are pinned rims, the joint was hard to find. The braking surface is nicely machined with depth indicators for rim wear, paint and decals all applied smooth and clean.- Good roundness. They seemed to be nicely round out of the box, and it didn't take much effort to get them round during the build.- Consistent weight. My samples were within a couple grams of each other, both within 10g of the claimed 460g weight.- Braking. The braking surface is grippy and reliable. Coupled with my SwissStop Black pads, these wheels stop as fast as any wheelset I've owned.- Rolling smoothness. As part of a full built set, these rims are almost like glass at higher speeds. No wobble, no wander, no fuss. They're among the most confident wheels I've ridden at 30+mph (to be sure, that's tailwinds and descents; I'm not that fast).- Strength. I have no flex issues, even when standing on steep grades torquing the rear wheel. Exceptional for a 24h build and a 155lb rider.Weaknesses:- Tensioning. Built round and true, I still have a lot of tension variance across each side of both the front and back wheels. I've been getting this smoothed out re-tensioning after rides, but it's been a bit of a slog. After 3 re-tensions I'm within 15% variance (still too high), but it started over 20%. This is a build(er) challenge, I don't mark this against the rating.- Braking. While braking is hugely strong, there's a pulsing that comes from the front wheel that can be disconcerting. It happens most at higher speed (25mph+), moderate-heavy braking. The pulsing fades as braking continues, disappearing faster under very heavy braking. It's not clear it's meaningful, however I've not noticed this problem from the rear. This hasn't improved as tension variance has gotten better, nor has it changed as I've put miles on them. While I have gotten used to it, this dings them a star.
