As mentioned in other reviews, the muffler broke in the same place as the one it was replacing, but much quicker. After only about 10 minutes of use. I attribute this to the design of the chipper over the design of the muffler, but it’s still there. Perhaps a bucket of JB Weld would reinforce it? For me, it was scrap time for the shredder.

A little difficult to get the rear nut on but that’s the design of the chipper. The muffler fit exactly as it’s supposed to.

It fits, and it works. There isn't any improvement in the design, so it'll shake itself apart again one of these days, but for now, its as good as the old muffler. It wasn't easy to install, but with some low profile wrenches, and some extensions, (removing the gas tank and a couple of other things) I got it on, and I'm back in business with a dozen hours of operation on the new muffler. I am an expert in nothing, so let me say, "if I can do it, you can".

Earthquake keeps improving this part. For good reason. My first one shook itself apart. Earthquake quickly sent me a free replacement under warrant. That one survived a few years, then shook loose a big hole in top, under the heat shield. Unfortunately, it was pumping hot air down onto the plastic carburator parts. It melted them. So, I bought a new carb and this part. Now I'm back in business!!! Fits my five year old Earthquake chipper-shredder perfectly.

I bought this to replace the muffler on my year old Earthquake chipper which broke at the weld where the pipe connects to the muffler body. Time will tell if the old muffler was just defective or a poor design. I'm giving three stars in the hope this one lasts longer than the original. I will also add that it did not come with either a gasket or nuts like the picture shows, but I was able to re-use the old gasket as the chipper is practically brand new. It was also somewhat difficult to install because it sits tightly between the engine and the chipper housing. Other than the muffler it isin't a bad chipper for the price I paid. If this thing breaks, I'll be back to knock two stars off this review...

The only thing that would make it a 5 Star is to have advise on short cut to installation on the Earthquake Chipper .
