This works well. I wish there was a way for my kids to use it on their own completely. If they use it on their own they have to put the cards in, and they can see the word when doing so. Then spelling the word, that may be helpful for really early readers/spellers, but I wish it could load several cards so they cant read all the words right before tying to spell them.

Definitely 5 stars because it keeps my son entertained for a long time plus it’s educational too! At first, it was more on just stacking the letters but my son finally understood how it works and I can say that this helped him with simple spellings. Helps with phonics too. The little letters are made to last and can easily be read. Helpful educational toy.

This has been one of the best tools while teaching my 5 year old how to read.He loves using it and is even able to use it on his own.

Very helpful for kids learning phonics and basic spelling, my 4.5 year olds did well with it. I like how there are several levels of difficulty included in the cards. I also liked the space for storing cards on the back of the unit. I thought it was a great idea to put the flap that covers the word, to give the chance to sound out the word before checking the answer. I do wish there was a storage space for the letter tiles, but I ended up just keeping the whole thing and tiles in the box for storage. I think it is a very helpful educational activity for kids at the very start of learning phonics and spelling

I have been looking for different ways to help my youngest daughter with practicing sight words. She hates doing flash cards or even just spelling aloud. I came across this set and knew it was perfect for her! She loved using the tiles to spell out the word and then can check for herself if she spelled it right. I love that this set also helps her to learn her vowels and consonants. The cards are double sided and very durable. The best part is that she doesn’t really realize that she is practicing her sight words because this is such a fun and different way to practice it!

So you should take a close look at the photos on what this is. Basically you slide a card into the frame, and then your kid is supposed to find the letters to spell the word by putting them on the ledge. Then they can check the answer by pulling down the door thingy. Afterwards they slide the red knob and all the letters get ejected. I guess the fun is that rather than write the word they get to find the little letters and put it on. You have to remove and insert the cards manually though, so if your kid is doing this, they'll see what it is, meaning you have to do it for them for every card. For what it is it doesn't feel like that much, and the gadget doesn't add too much - I mean you can just have some cards and some scrabble letters and do the same thing. But there's still some educational value here and the cards are quite colorful.

This is like a spelling game, but has a fun cash register type button that spills all of the letters out.You get a packet of letters, the plastic holder, and a stack of cards. It's easier if you lay out the letters so the child can easily see them.. I separated by vowels and consonants.. then I put a card into the card slot and covered the spelling up. The child has to then sound the word out and use the tiles to fill in the slots. When the word is done, you open the word slot to see if the word is spelled correctly. Then you slide over the button and drop the letters down out of the bottom. My only draw back, is it's hard to put the card in without the child seeing the new word. You have to take it out of sight and put the card in.. which isn't always convenient. You can't put a card in without the word being seen. But this is a great learning tool, and a fun way to remember sounds. They actually want to play this and it makes learning fun. I def recommend for homeschoolers or teachers! This is a great set with a lot of cards for 3 and 4 letter words.

This is a simple and appealing educational game that is very easy for kids (and parents!) to understand and use.You place a card in the slot that spells a word and shows a picture of it (like CAT). A plastic bar can cover up the word CAT so that the child sees only the image of the cat -- or you can slide that bar down and see both the image and the spelled-out word simultaneously. For kids just starting out, it's nice to leave the spelled-out word visible so that they can select from the large selection of letter tiles and place them on the tray beneath the graphic, matching the letters they are seeing, one by one. For more advanced kids, you can hide the spelled-out word and have the child come up with the spelling on their own just by looking at the image. This bi-level usage is a real plus.I'm not sure why they used the sliding red button that makes the letters fall down into the chamber beneath when a child is all finished with one card/word. It doesn't seem to have any real learning value, but maybe kids will find it fun to do that and make the letters fall down. All in all, this simple game/learning device is really good at teaching basic letters and spelling in a way that will hold a child's attention and interest. Parents will have fun doing this with their kids.
