Excellent product. Tripod mount foot is very useful with macro and telephoto lenses. I've used Altson lens adapters with Sony cameras and now Canon EF to R mount adapters. Some Canon EF lenses were not fully functional on a Sony a600. All of the Canon EF and EFS lenses have worked perfectly on a Canon R7 body. It is so fantastic to be able to use my collection of Canon EF and EFS lenses on my new mirror less camera. And the price is much less than the Canon EF to R adapter.

I have a lot of photography gear and lenses are a great part of that. The new cameras that I bought have a different mount even though they are the same brand. You know manufacturers will claim they improve everything and that is why they change the mounts. That's not why, they want you to go out an purchase a whole new line of lenses. I am glad that no one has tried to keep folks from using some of the old with the new and keeping some green in their pockets. This works perfectly with my old lenses and all the automatic features work as well. Great purchase for the price.

The Altson EF-EOS R Lens Mount Adapter with Control Ring is a third-party adapter designed to allow you to use your existing Canon EF and EF-S lenses on Canon's EOS R mirrorless cameras. It boasts a similar feature set to the Canon-branded adapter, including autofocus (AF) and a control ring, but at a significantly lower price point. Let's explore the pros and cons to see if this budget-friendly option is the right call for you.Pros:Budget-friendly: Compared to both the Canon EF-EOS R adapter and the Control Ring version, the Altson adapter is a much cheaper way to adapt your EF/EF-S glass.Control ring functionality: Similar to the Canon version, you can assign functions (shutter speed, aperture, ISO) to the control ring for a more personalized shooting experience.Maintains autofocus: Use your EF/EF-S lenses with autofocus capabilities on your EOS R camera. (Compatibility check recommended)Cons:Unknown brand: Altson isn't as established a name as Canon, so there may be concerns about quality and longevity.Potentially unreliable autofocus: While some users report good AF performance, there are also reports of slower or less accurate autofocus compared to the Canon adapter.Limited warranty and support: You might have less recourse for issues compared to a Canon-branded product.Build quality: Some users mention that the Altson adapter feels less robust than the Canon version.Who Should Get This Adapter? This adapter might be a good option for Canon EOS R users on a tight budget who:Want to use their existing EF/EF-S lenses and prioritize affordability over brand name. Are okay with potentially slower or less reliable autofocus performance. Are willing to take a chance on a lesser-known brand.Who Should Look Elsewhere? You might want to consider a different adapter if:You prioritize reliable autofocus performance and want to minimize compatibility issues.Prefer the build quality and warranty of a brand-name product like Canon.Budget is not a major concern, and you want all the features of the Canon adapter.Overall:The Altson EF-EOS R Lens Adapter with Control Ring offers a tempting price tag for budget-minded Canon EOS R users with EF/EF-S lenses. The control ring functionality is a nice bonus, but be prepared for potentially slower autofocus and potentially lower build quality compared to the Canon-branded adapter. Weigh your priorities and shooting style carefully before deciding if the potential savings outweigh the risks.

Purchased this in a pinch, it works, but the lock on both camera and lens side is very loose. It works as intended and at first, the connection seemed firm but after just a month or so, it is so wobbly that its distracting. Its light and slim and the focus functions still work fine but id save some money and look elsewhere.

The adapter does support electronic autofocus (slower but still effective -- but no autofocus in video mode), but it has not detected the aperture in my lens and does not allow me to manually adjust it. What is the solution? Did I get a bad one?
