It took a little while to lay out the pieces for assembly. Once that was done successfully it took about 15 - 20 minutes to assemble. I found it best to assemble it on a table. My cat briefly checked it out immediately. I put a little catnip on top which drew him back to checking it out further. He hasn't tried scratching the surface yet. The final assembled product seemed durable enough. I believe this item will serve the purpose for which it was intended.

With a 4-cat household, I am always looking for items that will keep the fur-babies active and engaged. Also, that will give them a place to scratch and stretch, other than on a piece of furniture. This cat scratcher gets high marks compared to others that I have purchased. It is sturdy with wood plates that are attached to the scratcher panels with simple coarse-thread plastic screws. Assembly took less than 10 minutes; a small screwdriver is included in case you don't have one. My cats took to it immediately, with one inside and one on top, playing with one another through the openings. I like that the scratch panels are double sided; so, when they are thoroughly worn, simply flip the entire scratcher over to expose the unused surfaces to extend its life. The scratch panels could even be replaced easily if new ones can be purchased or made to fit.

I have mixed feelings about this cat scratcher. The material is great, and once assembled, it’s sturdy and looks nice. My big, active cat immediately took to it and even took a nap on it right after I finished putting it together. It’s spacious enough for him to turn around in, and he loves scratching all over it. The quality of the cardboard seems solid, though time will tell how well it holds up.However, assembly was a trial. The instructions were clear, but the process took nearly an hour, and I really struggled to get everything aligned properly. The pieces didn’t come together seamlessly, especially the scratching boards—they were cut into two pieces, making it a huge challenge to fit them together. Even after trying to make it perfect, the seams aren’t completely flush. I don’t know why they didn’t design it with full pieces for the scratchers, as that was by far the most frustrating part. It wouldn’t have been as bad if both scratchers hadn’t been cut. But as it is, I’d personally pay more if it came pre-assembled, as the DIY assembly is honestly too much work. That said, once it’s all put together, it’s very sturdy, and my cat really enjoys it. I’ve seen similar sizes without assembly required and with more scratching area for the same price, so I’ll consider those next time. It’s not a total loss, but the effort involved definitely makes me hesitant to recommend it without that warning.I’ve attached photos to show how it looks once assembled.

Cats love it. After ignoring it for a few days, they finally play with it. One will lay inside while the other cat will lay on top as they play-fight; they also use the scratch pads more than the couch now. Very satisfied.

This was super easy to put together, and the cats really like scratching the corrugated cardboard. The cubby part is a bit small for an adult cat to get into, but they do like fishing toys out of there.

My cat loves this!So many pros! It's hard to find any cons with this scratcher because it's so great!!! It's been holding up really well!Pros:1) Easy build, about 10 mins or so.2) Sturdy and feels like very good quality.3) My cat loved it off the bat and used it right away! He loves sitting on it and laying inside.4) Doesn't make a big mess like other scratchers. The scratched of cardboard pieces have stayed on top or just don't come off the scratcher as easy.5) Completely worth it!!!Cons:1) We got the Large size because we have a Ragdoll and he's over 20lbs. I would say if you have a cat bigger than that they wouldn't fit into the scratcher.

Cat's always like having multiple places to hide, they also like having places to scratch. This item fulfills both needs wonderfully and looks nice to boot. Assembly was a breeze, and all necessary tools and fasteners were included. My cat actually seemed to enjoy supervising my work as if she knew this item was for her. The quality of the materials is decent for what this is - something to be clawed apart and thrown away. She seems to like hiding in it more than scratching it, but whatever makes her happy.

This cat scratching hideout is nicely made and even a doofus like me was able to assemble it. It comes with six wooden squares and four scratch surfaces, along with plastic screws that screw into the cardboard scratching surfaces. I was able to assemble it in about 15 minutes (my husband probably could have done it in five, but I had to prove to myself I could do it). I was concerned that the screws might not remain stable in the cardboard scratching surfaces, but so far, so good. As evidenced by the picture, Toby approved of it immediately. He was already trying to hide in the hideout before it was fully assembled. This morning, one cat was inside of it, another sitting on top. I think it's a win in this house.
