I love these things. I've never liked the "winged" grip-style tube retainers because they're either too tight and hurt your fingers to push down to get the tube out, or they're too loose and don't actually do anything. Plus, they scratch the bases of the tubes when you're putting them in or taking them out. And even with the tight ones, if you spend a lot of time with the amp in the back of the car the tubes can still slowly but surely wiggle around. These style cost practically nothing and hold the tubes in like nothing else. They're an easy drop in replacement, you just remove the screws, remove the old retainer, and screw these back in. The little "arms" are easily bent to grip the shape of your tubes exactly, whether you use thicker 6CA7/6L6 shaped bottles or thinner EL34 bottles. If you've got REALLY microphonic tubes I suppose you could glue some flat silicone washers up in to the top to dampen vibration further but I haven't had any problem with that at all. The springs are strong, those tubes are going nowhere.

Put these on my old Fender Twin because the tube sockets were getting loose and the tube would lose contact. Hasn't happened again since I put these on.

They not only keep the tubes in their sockets but also reduced some mechanical rattling I would get on certain frequencies... Am getting these for all my amps without retainers or cages

Bought these with the understanding I would be trimming the springs for 6V6s. They rattled like crazy in my 68 Custom Princeton Reverb. Maybe they would work better for 6L6s as designed.

The retainers work perfectly and arrived very quickly. I installed these in a 1978 212-65 Music Man (6CA7) and a 1994 Blues Deville (6L6) in about 20 minutes.
