Product Description

VGA to HDMI Adapter

This VGA to HDMI adapter with an attached USB cable not only converts VGA analog signals to HDMI digital output but also offers the advantage of simultaneous audio transmission and convenient power supply, ensuring a seamless and efficient connection experience.

 VGA to HDMI adapter

Important Notes:

  • One-Way Conversion: This adapter only converts VGA (analog) to HDMI (digital). It does not support HDMI to VGA conversion. Please ensure your source device outputs VGA and your display accepts HDMI input.
  • Audio Compatibility: Audio transmission may not be supported on certain operating systems, such as some versions of macOS or Linux. A separate audio connection may be required.
  • Resolution Support: Supports up to 1920x1080 resolution at 60Hz. Please verify that your display device supports this resolution for optimal performance.
  • USB Power Requirement: To ensure stability and optimal performance, the adapter requires an external power supply via USB cable.
  • Driver and Display Settings: While the adapter is plug-and-play, some systems may require manual adjustment of display settings to ensure proper output.
  • Port Compatibility: Check that your VGA and HDMI ports are compatible with the adapter to ensure a secure connection.
  • This adapter can be used with any device that has a VGA output and needs to connect to an HDMI input. However, please ensure your console supports VGA output for optimal performance.

  • Yes, for our specific model of VGA to HDMI adapter, the USB connection not only provides power, but also supports audio transmission. This allows for both video and audio signals to be converted from VGA to HDMI.

  • This adapter is specifically designed for HDMI input. If your monitor only has a DVI input, you would need a different adapter or a DVI to HDMI converter.

  • Yes, you can use this adapter for an extended desktop display. The exact setup might vary depending on your operating system, but typically you can adjust these settings in your display preferences.

  • This adapter supports up to 1080p resolution, ensuring high-quality video transmission. However, the final video quality can also depend on the quality of your VGA source and HDMI display.

I have a server with a VGA connection, and a KVM that takes HDMI. This lets me use my server with the KVM and works just fine. Construction is good.

I like playing with older technology and this allows older tech to meet newer stuff. With that in mind, I tried this on both a Windows 98 laptop and a Windows XP laptop to mixed results.Windows 98 would freeze on boot up with the USB plugged in, and while its a generic "USB audio device" for the sound, Windows 98SE didn't know what to do with it, even with the nUSB 3.6 driver pack installed. Not a huge loss, as for video only it can operate with just power to the USB port and no driver installed. For Windows 9x, that's probably ideal anyway since hardware audio devices make a huge difference in your experiences.Windows XP was plug and play with no fuss for both the audio and the video. Not much to say here specific to this OS.Regarding screen resolutions, neither of the laptops I used support widescreen. I didn't play much with the Windows 98 machine regarding screen resolutions, but on Windows XP it seems that the adapter does not like the display resolution that the internal screen is, which is 1400 x 1050. I was not able to test wide-screen resolutions with my system, but I was able to run it at 1280x1024 no problem. At that resolution, the image was respectably detailed and crisp. Unfortunately, my TV detected the adapter in such a way that I couldn't set it to keep the aspect ratio. The settings for forcing it were grayed out in the menu. This was a real bummer.I see this device as having its uses, but they are more limited than I would have hoped given the aspect ratio issue. I do have a Windows XP desktop computer that may be a good match for this as its video card only has VGA, and I know it can do 1080p. I think I also would have preferred an analog audio line in with USB power instead of the USB DAC integrated (or include both and make it switchable) so that older computers with high end hardware accelerated sound cards could be utilized without routing the audio separately.

PresentationThe Elebase VGA to HDMI Adapter was supplied in an unbranded long and thin cardboard box within which was the dongle itself and a small fold out manual.First ImpressionsThe dongle consists of a pair of cables on the input side, one being the VGA cable and the other a USB A cable for audio and to power the convertor, whilst on the other side there is a HDMI port. The cables are braided and appear to be of good quality, the VGA and USB ends are also of good quality and feel well made, the dongle/ convertor with the HDMI port is of similar build and quality.Day To Day UseMy main reason for using this is that I no longer have a monitor with a VGA input whilst I do still have several micro-servers and sometimes I have to install updates in a console mode for the servers. Not having visibility of what is going on when in console mode is a bit of a showstopper so this convertor is a real boon to obtain console access and view the process as needed. It worked flawlessly for me on one of the servers, less so on the other but that was not the fault of the dongle/convertor but the way the system creates its access window. Overall this worked well or actually better than I expected and I am very pleased with the results.Summing UpA good tool for older systems where only a VGA cable is supplied – good value too at just £9.99 as II have seen similar cables at multiple times that price.

The VGA to HDMI adapter worked flawlessly with my old IBM laptop, which has VGA output. It powered with the USB port and also worked well with a KVM switch. Overall, I highly recommend it.

I have a number of VGA only devices, such as servers, that I need to connect to newer monitors that don't have VGA ports. I was a bit surprised to find a VGA to HDMI adapter. It connects to the VGA out port on the server and is powered by plugging in to a USB A port. Then you connect a HDMI monitor to the HDMI out port.It does exactly what it's meant to do and works perfectly. I have it connected to a 1920x1080 monitor and it detected that resolution automatically. It doesn't require any drivers, software, nor configuration. Just works. Even works correctly during the POST process so you can access the BIOS, etc. Awesome.

Works as it should. I used this adapter to connect a laptop to a monitor. My monitor has VGA while my laptop has an HDMI connection point. I did not use the HDMI connector on this adapter, but can state that the VGA to HDMI connection works perfectly. You will have to find or purchase an HDMI cable separately as the HDMI on this adapter is a port rather than a plug that can be connected directly.Overall, this is exactly what I was expecting and is great for when you want to see a mall laptop screen on a bigger monitor! I do think the price is about the same as I would expect to pay in a store however, so if you need this type of adapter immediately, I would check my local Electronics of WallyWorld type stores to see if they have one in stock.

Klasse Produkt!

My old laptop has no HDMI port, just a VGA port and a full-size DisplayPort. The DisplayPort is physically damaged and hasn't worked in all the time I've had it (it was secondhand) so my only option is VGA - and I've only got one monitor now that has a VGA port. I also don't plan on giving up on my old laptop, because it's a ThinkPad tablet and they're ace.Well, with this I can use an HDMI monitor, and in really good quality. Not quite native, due to the inescapable processing of digital to analogue to digital again, but really good. Audio is handled as well, and Windows just plug-and-played it. Exactly what you want to happen.Build quality is lovely - aluminium alloy case, braided cables, nice plugs. The small amount of heat that is generated is handled by the metal case. Playing video through it wasn't a problem either, unlike the USB adaptor I tried, because the processing is still happening in the GPU and not in a steadily overheating dongle.Perfect, and cheap as cheap can be.
